Described as a “sizzling violinist from Scotland” (Buffalo Times, NY) Seonaid Aitken not only stands out from the crowd as an extremely versatile violinist/fiddler (classical, folk, bluegrass, gypsy-jazz...) but, when you combine her “beautifully resonant singing” and accomplished skills on the piano, as a musical ‘triple threat’. Add to that her lifetime of experience in theatre and dance, and her ability to improvise, compose and arrange her own music, and it’s easy to see how Seonaid has become an established performer on a world-class level.
Seonaid took her solo show to the seas onboard the luxury cruise lines Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises in 2008 after signing an exclusive contract with the Las Vegas-based entertainment agency Nite Raiders . She has since made her debut as a guest entertainer with Princess Cruises and will continue to perform throughout 2010 as a headlining act.
Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she studied classical violin and piano, Seonaid has performed in more than 45 countries across the world. In addition to her cruise ship performances, she has toured Internationally as the lead violinist/vocalist and keyboard player with the Canadian-based dancing violin show Barrage , performed as an Irish singer and fiddler at Tokyo DisneySEA , Japan, and completed a residency at Dixie's Dam Country Bar as a fiddler/singer in ‘The New Country Strings’ for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
Originally from Glenrothes in Fife, but now Glasgow-based, Seonaid regularly plays as a classical violinist with the Scottish Opera and is a sought-after session recording artist with over 10 years of experience (violin/fiddle, vocals, keyboards and string arrangement). Seonaid recently played on the album ‘Island’ and subsequent UK tour with Colin MacIntyre (aka Mull Historical Society) with whom she will perform at Scotland’s premier winter festival ‘Celtic Connections’ in 2010.
Seonaid’s television credits include BBC’s ‘Children In Need’, Barrage specials ‘Dig A Little Deeper’ (Bravo!) and ‘Vagabond Tales’ (PBS), as well as appearing alongside Colin Mockrie in the Walt Disney film ‘A Magical Gathering’ (CBC). She can also be heard and seen on the CD and DVD of Barrage: 'Vagabond Tales' (Swath Publishing).
Seonaid recently completed her self-produced debut album entitled ‘Souvenir' which she launched in her home town to a sold-out studio theatre audience. The album covers a wide range of styles and features original compositions and new arrangements of music and songs gathered from her travels. (click here to order Seonaid's CD)

Choonz entered in an Irish Music Battle of the Bands!
Hi, Choonz have entered an Irish music battle of the Bands competition online Youtube Link
The winners get 5 nights playing at the Monte Carlo Casino in Las Vegas. This would obviously be quite nice. Seriously though, we would really love this opportunity and this would give us the publicity needed to start our career as a touring band.
WE NEED YOUR VOTE!! Please take the time to forward this to some people in your address book. Voting ends in a few days so please don't delay. It only takes a minute to register your vote! Anyway, enough grovelling from us. To vote for us Click Here and select Choonz.

Nice to hear from you & glad you are busy. Carly was brilliant, a great singer too. The Coal Porters are back up in Scotland again in the Spring. I'll let you know when my new album is out & thanks for your interest! Allie x
Hey lovely lady! I hope your homecoming gig was everything you dreamed it would be, only sorry I couldn't be there. I bet you knocked them dead! Lots of love for now babe, Kerieva x x
Took two copies of the album - one for myself, the other for Bob Tait. I told him about the gig, and he was very sorry that he couldn't make it, as he and Christine were driving home from London today. Anyway, he insisted I got him a copy, and also wished to pass on his best regards to you.
Well, hope it's not another ten years before I see you again. At some point, we should try and organise a wee reunion for the lot of us that were in FYO together.
The Coal Porters play in Scotland at the end of this month so with luck you and Carly Frey can do the encore fiddlin' together. This is of course if we get asked to play more, ha. I hope a three chord bluegrass/folk song is not too much of a challenge for you!
