Nuclear Abominations webzine (ITA)
Hey is the intro taken from "Wizard of Gore"? Whatever. When I got this promo in the mailbox I knew that something special was going on. The art and layout in this Cd both looked splendid and charmingly old school. It had all the feel of golden age horror comics, plus an accurate and elegant touch of color, which is used with intelligence, for once. For some reason, I was not surprised it was Fernando of Black Hole who arranged the whole project on the graphic dept. And I was about to cum when I read that there were four Autopsy covers at the end of the album, becouse you kow that I consider Autopsy the greatest Death Metal band of all times and well, it was a pleasure reading this album was a dedication to that most important of Death Metal bands ever. It should also be noted that the vocalist of this band is Andrè from Lymphatic Phlegm! Now that's something for good premises! As the disc started spinning, the first notes of the album were screaming "Severed Survival". But as things develop, I recognize we don't have pure Autopsy worship here a la Anatomia or Mausoleum. Offal plays old school Death Metal with open textures and some very slow doomy bridges, with inhuman splattery vocals and a vague touch of grind, it's a complete tribute to Autopsy and Gut but it's also a band per se. Things are a bit stiffer and less sludgy than with those bands, and that's mainly the missing element here. The rule is is to keep the riffs simple, the percussions adhering only to what's needed for the riffs to stand out, and it works for sure. But to be honest some of the riffs aren't really anything too special. The concept to me is more than good anyway, old school Death Metal plus mutilated corpses, entrails and gore are a combination which I cannot miss eh eh. Let's say that it lacks some hook, but the rest is arranged perfectly. Some Gut covers also appear in the middle of the album, and they're an further statement on how they want to keep their music sicker and simpler. Possibly with a slighly denser production and heavier sound we could have had something really amazing, but the recording just sounds a bit distant. This stuff is generally speaking a superior example of love for the good things in Death Metal and Gore Grind, and it's terrific in its simplicity. Just some adjustements here and there and you might get something REAL good. In any case I would buy this album immediately!! Top reccomendation!

Septi-Gore zine #10 (USA)
Renzo of I Shit On Your Face put this CD out and it fucking kills!! slower, heavy, mid-paced Death/rind that' very refresinhg and original to me. You get 11 tracks and a huge surprise at the end... OFFAL does 4 covers of Autopsy ("Charred Remains", "Gasping for Air", "Twisted Mass of Burnt Deacy" and In the Grip of Winter"). Outstanding!! Oh yeah, you get 2 Gut covers as well. OFFAL is from Brazil and they kick ass. Get this!!

Vomitose zine #2 (Neo Zeland)
This band has supposedly been going since 2002 but I hadn't heard of these guys at all until I got their debut self titled CD out on newish Brazilian label The Hole Productions this year. Upon first listen, it's pretty much impossible not to compare this band to Autopsy. Offal have obviously jumped on the same bandwagon that Anatomia and Mausoleum already have; the old school moody death metal riffs reek of Autopsy influence here. This isn't a bad thing like you might imagine, they're no second coming of Autopsy or anything, but its actually quite a well done tribute to these gods... The packaging and artwork on this release also looks incredible! A really old skool horror comic feel... *[complete review in upcoming Vomitose #2!!]

Offal is a Brazilian grind band that hide on vocals Andre Luis from Lymphatic Phlegm. On this album with great illustrations you hear old school death metal with some grind edges. Up or fast tempo songs or with slow doom parts. Sick and gutteral vocals and easily sawing riffs. Inspired by Autopsy (who are honoured with the medley at the end of this album) but without being a copy cat. Musically it might not be refreshing or walking new paths but the songs put back the old school feeling. The hook in the songs make it worth and maybe when there were some insane guitar leads and a dirtier sound it would be even better.

Cette première prod de "the hole" est sans le cd le plus crade de l'année. Du bon gros grind crade des années 90 qui ferai passer les premiers Autopsy pour du Machine Head (désolé pour la comparaison hehe). 11 titres, 27 minutes de putridité musicale, qu'est ce c'est bon ! Enfin surtout les titres lents et lourds avec des ambiances que le necrophagia des débuts n'aurai pas régné! Riffs sur-lent, samples de femmes torturées, un coup sur la caisse toutes les 15 secondes, tous les clichés sont là. Mais qu'est ce que c'est bon ! Sur les passages ou ça accélèrent, là j'avoue que je ne suis pas fan. C'est à ce moment où le son de gratte mouche brésilienne fait son retour (lymphatic phlegm je sais que tu es là !) et surtout le batteur n'a pas le niveau soyons clair. Sinon nivo prod, c'est cheap mais ce n'est pas ce que l'on demande, on veut du sale et on l'a !! Pour le voix, un patch made in 90s, pas de bruit de tuyauterie ou de cochon s'accouplant avec un bœuf, old school on vous dit. A noter 2 pistes de reprises medley de GUT (2songs) et AUTOPSY (4!), on voit d'où viennent les influences. Au final un produit très old school qui ravira les fans de saleté et je sais qu'il y en a beaucoup !!"
