Sequent 7 is a diary of my wanderings in the labyrinth of sound and noise that is sometimes called music.
Influences
I'm sure we all have many more influences than we ever realize - influences both good and bad. Here are a few names off my 'good' list. I think for an artist, deep inspiration goes far beyond just the inspiration of looking to others in one's special field. In reality, such a list should also include things such as books, art, films, nature, the quest for spirit and the sacred, the power of good friends and close family, good food and good wine, a good cup of tea. Life. You get the picture. But I'll just keep it about music for now.

My aim is to become a better audio alchemist and a better navigator within the grand stream. I would like to be a truer conduit for that creative force which seeks to express itself through me. If I can achieve some small real measure of these I will be content.
Instruments played include synthesizers (both hardware and virtual, vintage and new), samplers (also hardware and virtual), Native American flutes, recorders, ocarinas, ethnic and folk flutes, harps, guitars, dulcimer, psaltery, and various percussion. In my attempts to carve out the pathways into the deepside of the sonic stream I tend to explore whatever avenues are necessary. I personally don't really care whether it's a synthesizer, a flute, or whatever other instrument; every instrument has its own particular magic and offers its own particular gateway into the unknown. Every instrument also carries its own responsibility.
The responsiblity is to always do the best you can, to be connected and real, and to be mindful of what you send out there and why... as well as to simply have fun doing it. The music is the common denominator and always the main focus. Beyond the music lies the still small voice: the fire which never dies. Everything else is just window dressing.
Music can be a gateway into the infinite. It can be a sacred journey of searching and discovery and a chronicle of questions asked. That which I have posted here is just me trying to find my voice and to express what I have heard on the other side of the deep and out of the dark. Perhaps I'm not so much presenting answers here as I am asking questions - sending out a signal in search of signs of life.
You can always lose track of time but you should never lose touch with good friends like yourself.
Stopping in to let you know how much your friendship has meant to me and the absolutely amazing music you perform. My wish for you is that all your hopes and dreams will become realities in this coming year. You are such a talented artist and a great person.
I wish you and yours the best this Holiday, do be safe and take care.
I like discovering your tracks, like the construction of aggression and repentance. Shadow dance is charming. your music is soothing thank you Wes Laurence
Hi Wes! I am just chillin' back and watching Dancing With the Stars. Chuck Liddell who is an ultimate fighter is competing this season. It is so funny to watch him because he is such a bad-ass fighter to have him dance on this show just seem sooo out of his character! He is not a very good dancer but I totally respect him for doing something that is totally out of his element. I don't know if I would be that brave!
Anyway, enjoy your evening. Tomorrow is Wednesday so we are only a few days away from the weekend!!! =)
