The fact that all three of us listen to different music. Also the fact that we all like mozza beefs...dipped, bitches. It's what put Chicago on the map. Wait. What?
Sounds Like
We've been told that we sound like a boy band. A shitty boy band that plays their own instruments and can't dance or sing with high-pitched voices. Oh, and we sort of have beer belly's...
We’re three guys that like to play/write music. The end.
If we (the royal "we") build it...
“You have those dreams as a kid of growing up and doing something with your life…I just wanted to play music,” states Dan Wagner, drummer for Chicago rock outfit SEQUOIA. He and his band mates, Wade Work (vocals/guitar) and Tim Jepsen (bass), have been doing just that for years now in the Chicago area. Building around an immediate connection formed over five years ago and a not-to-be-missed live show that is as delicate and moving as it is powerful, the guys have constructed a unique and frightfully catchy sound which is deftly employed on their latest full-length, Time to Change. The album blends together the heavy atmospheres and driving rhythms of indie-alt-rock giants like HUM and SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE with the quirkiness and melodic vision of artists such as THE SHINS and BAND OF HORSES.
A marked departure from their last full length, Monday Morning, everything about Time to Change points SEQUOIA towards bigger and better things; from the finely tuned song structure, to the raw but balanced recording (courtesy of Tate Eskew), to the carefully crafted words. “We’re more comfortable with where we’re at, more comfortable in our own skin,” states front man Work when asked about how the band has grown. His words ring true as you listen to Time to Change; SEQUOIA is an original band with an unoriginal approach - make the music that you want to make.
Take Time to Change for a spin and let SEQUOIA show you what is oftentimes missing in today’s music scene; honest and interesting tunes that come straight from the heart.

"...Either I’ve been playing way too much Guitar Hero, or Sequoia can write some really catchy riffs that make me want to pick up a guitar (real, plastic, or air) and play along…or maybe it’s both..." - William Jones www.punkbands.com
"...Which is ultimately what Sequoia does, tries to create a score that goes along with the kind of things that happen to us every day. If you enjoy bands like Hum or Jawbox, you may find them well suited for your soundtrack..." - Mark Oster www.badresa.com

Dan- Thanks for the disc. Honestly, it's one of my favories and hasn't left my car's CD player since we saw RAMBO. Beautiful tunes. You should have a custom drumset made of real Seqouia wood.
