For most people, the words ``metal'' and ``ministry'' don't seem like they belong together in the same sentence.
For the four members of Seraphim, however, both are at the heart of what the band does. They're unabashed Christians, but they're also enthusiastic metal-heads, and they've found a way to combine both loves -- spreading the gospel without sacrificing the fire and passion of heavy metal rock 'n' roll.
Steve Wildsmith "The Daily Times"
Seraphim began back in 1994 with Aaron Veal (guitar/Vox) and Brian Smith (drums.) There are existing recordings from these garage days kept for a good laugh once in a while. Aaron went on to play in several bands including Niasis, Equinox, Abolishment(with Omega Rage frontman Joshua Jordan), and the acclaimed Big Fish. After several years of touring and recording with Big Fish, it was time to go. After Big Fish, Aaron decided to step out of the live music scene forever, opting to write and perform only for church. Aaron began writing and recording the album that would soon be known as Dynamite Fishing by performing everything himself in his studio Acoustic Studios AV. There were no intentions of starting a band. Jacob Veal was brought on to the project to lay down some guitar solos. Several gig opportunities arose so they recruited Nick Bradshaw to play bass live. Sans drummer, Seraphim played shows and earned a following of metalheads looking for something different. It became evident that it was time to look for a drummer if they were going to continue on the next level. "We just put it in God's hands and didn't worry about it" said Aaron. By the hand of God, David (Chosen, Outta the Blue) was brought in just in time to help write the upcoming "Metamorphose" album. Nick quit the band. So Seraphim was left without a bassist with shows looming over the hill. The show dates were kept. The same attitude toward new musicians was kept this time around and it worked again. Ernie Smith joined on for bass duties and meshed in very well with the eclectic influences of the rest of the band.
Seraphim Mission Statement
We are a progressive metal band that is dedicated to preading the Word of God. We believe that God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to Earth via a virgin, was born and lived the ONLY perfect life. Jesus then Sacrificed himself on a cross to forgive EVERYONES past and future sins so that we could call upon the Father through the Son. There are many youth and adults that are repelled by the traditional church. We plan to fill this void in places where people would not normally hear about Jesus. Although we are not perfect, everything that we do should reflect to the best of our abilities, the Word of God. We also believe that being a Christian is NOT a sad, humdrum existence, and therfore we are happy and proud to serve the ONE TRUE GOD.
