As of now, Serenade of Darkness doesn’t exist anymore. We’ve decided to focus on other things and let things be what they are. We’ve had a lot of fun in the last years but the time has come. We would like to thank all the bands and people who’ve we played and partied with. Also we would like to thank all the fans who supported us in the past. For those who would like to check out our other bands: Hysteria (feat Magus, Emile and esproC) and Irritation (feat Demorpheus and esproC).
The future
Arcaroth's talent was discovered by Al'Qaida fundamentalists and is currently working on an essay about the possibility of undestructable airplane materials; according to Al'Qaida-affiliates their number of people is decreasing rapidly due to freelance suicide bombers. 'Hence we must try and be very careful with the few dedicated activists we still have left.'
Besides Hysteria, Emile found more interest in the smaller things of life; he's busy enjoying the existence of small vermin and currently lives in a treebranch downtown, recording ant conversations to study the possibility of creating a universal insect language.
Sephtis was found dead shortly after he expanded his Vocal Development Team and implanted sperm whale vocal cords down his throat. The effect appeared to be quite astonishing, but the powerful soundwaves overwrote his own hearbeat. According to a specialized team of scientists this was the most probable cause of his early death. We found a recording with a few soundsamples of these experiments, which we plan to release in a later stadium. A few days ago we received a call from the US government. Apparently they have interest into the recording. This caused a slight disagreement about the legal ownership of the recording between the existing bandmembers, especially Arcaroth has problems seeing the tape fall into US government hands. Arcaroth is planning an early release of the tape, yet an attempt to put a digital version of the sample on our website caused the internet to crash. (R.I.P. buddy)
Artists often refer to music as a painting (whether it be finished or not). As our music often included inverted religious symbols like the inverted pentagram, the cross, Magus decided to invert the painting reference as well. His experiment to actually play paintings on a grammaphone became quite popular in the underground scene. He now owns an underground club where you can listen to famous paintings from artists like: Dali, Rubens, Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso and many more. The project wasn't only appreciated by the underground scene. France invited Magus for a special performance in the Louvre Museum. The performance includes a compilation of DaVinci's paintings, including the very memorable 'Mona Lisa's Moans.' which is about to hit the charts worldwide.
esproC, formerly known as esproC, accepted an offer to star as Gollum in Peter Jackson's upcoming sequel to the blockbuster Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings veterans were quite surprised by a statement of Tolkiens son that the neither the Ring nor Gollum were ever consumed by the fires of Mount Doom. This cheap publicity trick caused Frodo, Sauron and Gollum to become the most succesful musical act Middle Earth has ever known. With Frodo (Michael J. Fox) on drums, Sauron (Danni DeVito) as bassplayer and Gollum as vocalist/guitarist, esproC and his companions perfectly translates the incredible succes of the Band of the Ring during the 4th Era of Middle Earth on the silver screen.
Demorpheus got fed up with the increase of refugees in the Northern parts of Europe. He decided to setup a refugee center in Albania. 'If people from the south decide to settle in the North, we from Northern Europe should simply answer by settle down South.' A few of his frostbitten records plan to be rereleased with revised artwork. The famous artist El'Abdul Kabaluku for example, has been asked to design the cover for Serenade of Darkness rerelease of the album: Sandstorms (previously known as Storms).
Thanks for a great time,
Serenade of Darkness
Serenade of Darkness
Symphonic Black Metal
Serenade of Darkness was founded by Magus and Andre de Heus back in 1996. Unfortunately this only lasted for a few weeks, because after that, all of a sudden they decided to stop for untold reasons.
In mid-1998, Serenade of Darkness was re-formed by its old members: Magus, Donny Aartse, Daniel ten Brinke, André de Heus The lineup changed a couple of times as Serenade of Darkness' quality started to become serious and professional. In 2000 Serenade of Darkness got a stable and solid formation at the time (André left and Bijl, Demorpheus, Ronald and Wendy joined). Thé perfect formation to record the full length album "In Solitude Engraved" which would be released October 2001.
Begin 2002, the band split up due to some problems, but when magazines as Aardschok and Unleash Metal Magazine wrote awesome reactions for In Solitude Engraved (75/100 and 84/100), Magus realized he didn't want to just leave Serenade of Darkness for what it was. He would continue no matter what the cost! That's when he contacted Demorpheus to ask him to help rebuild the band. Together they asked Bijl and Wendy to become part of Serenade of Darkness again. They agreed and that's where the quest for any worthy musicians continued.
Without any doubt, they succeeded. Sephtis, Arcaroth and Emile joined the band. Due to personal reasons Wendy and Bijl left. We chose not to look for another female vocalist and found the very talented esproC as Bijl's replacement on the bass, Now, we're with six members left which changed Serenade of Darkness into what it is now; an original, melodic and just awesome performing blackmetal band.
In the meantime we are preparing to record our new album following the already released Storms which made a huge impact on everyone. Crowd, magazines, they all are crazy about the new material. With the lineup as it is right now, Serenade of Darkness is about to conquer the current blackmetal scene!! Serenade has become faster, more brutal and more technical than ever!
