From the very beginning there was MUSIC , MUSIC and more MUSIC! I listened to Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, then George Benson, Rachelle Ferrell, Bill Withers, all the Funk Bands, then Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Elton John, and of course...Aretha, Natalie, Gladys, then Deniece Williams, and Phyllis Hyman. And then there were times when I got totally caught up watching movies just because of their soundtracks which for me just elevated my creative juices which later evolved into writing and composing songs.
Since that time I have been committed to staying true and passionately in love with this craft; and my ability to captivate the essence of love first on paper; and secondly at the mic! I believe that I can contribute greatly to the world's harvest...my seeds are limited to no one ...so please enjoy the fruits of my labor. It is from my heart straight to yours if you can accept ...and far more such a beautiful thing called unconditional love for all mankind. May you find peace and be nurtured by the many blessings found in every word i write.
Now from there...I guess God said ..."Serena it's time to do much more than the above"....so I stood still and listened intensely ...and at that moment "theSSB" was born. I had a desire to be a DJ during my early teen years but to me it was much more to it... the music was a way to explore other avenues of exposing talent that just never seem to reach the masses through the air waves...so this was my way of reaching out to all artists including myself to get the job done! Evenmoreso, I always loved the camera so I said why not? When the opportunity came a year later to help produce a TV show basically for the same purpose I jumped so hight into it that I'm still in mid-air today. "TheSSB" is striving to make a real difference in our music , in our homes and the images we view on the tube about entertainment. I hope that all of you at some point can appreciate the struggle because we're not stars until we are unreachable and who wants to be that far away from the truth!
