Resume
My name is Serena Star, I am a 21 year old Fashion influenced Portrait Photographer. Don't let my age fool you as I have been Photographing in the industry for over 5 years now. I have a brand new, fresh eye for the industry and I am trained in all the up-to date new techniques of today! My style isn't always for everyone -- I'm known for my bold, brightly colored, edgy imagery of intricate design. I love to take photographs that catch the eye, and I enjoy the subtle art of posing the body for artistic visions.
I graduated in '08 Valedictorian of my class from Antonelli Institute of Art and Photography. During my time in college, I spent my years photographing fashion models, and modeling off and on for many spectacular photographers. While Modeling, I learned different techniques in photography and photoshop and gained experience from a wide variety of styles. I learned more than any college could have ever taught me and created my own style from the things I felt made me look the best!
During College I was Vice President of the Antonelli Chapter of the Student Photographic Society (SPS), or Student membership of Professional Photographers of America (PPA). Once I graduated, I became an Active Member of PPA, earning a total of 16 merits for Volunteer Work and Print competition in the past two years. Two of my submitted prints were judged Best of the Best in their Print competition and are printed in their Annual Loan Collection Book. Since then, I have had many publications in books, magazines, and a variety of other Showcases and Awards. I've spent years networking with people all over the world!
When I was growing up, I was a very Artistic child. It took me a long time to find the form of art that was right for me. No matter what Medium I picked up, I could not create anything that I saw in my eyes as "good enough". I took lessons in art all through school and played with different types of mediums. I was in a Drama academy for the four years during High school and studied many forms of acting, lighting, costume, and set design. When I finally first picked up a Camera about 14 or 15, I finally found my art form that I could "perfect."
I love my job because I can make people feel great about themselves and realize that they are beautiful. When I was young, contrary to belief, I was not very popular! I was shy and I didn't have the best self esteem in High school. I was sort of your stereotypical "Rebel Artist." It took me a while to realize the inner beauty inside every person, including myself! Now I want to pass that on to others. The most rewarding thing to me is shooting everyday people and having them get their pictures and say "Wow, is that me?"
I love to create art in all styles with people of all ages, shapes, and sizes! I tend to do a lot of Fashion, Beauty, Pinup, Glamour, Boudoir and Fantasy inspired work, but I can do anything from Kids portraits to Weddings. I love to photograph High School Seniors and let them see themselves in the spotlight as they see their favorite actors and actresses... Or give the Bride who's looked forward to her magical day all her life timeless memories she will remember forever.
I've traveled back and forth from New York to Philadelphia, but found that the City lifestyle wasn't for me! I decided I wanted to enjoy the small suburban life making non-models look and feel beautiful just as I've done for women established in the industry. I still photograph in the Fashion world, and I'm not sure where exactly I'm going to end up, but I know that this is what I want to and always will want to do!
I am a very bubbly person and can be a big dork if you are not afraid to have fun with me. I tend to talk really really fast, and am told I make funny squeaky noises when I am shooting. I am still a little shy yet exuberant all melted into an ice cream sundae, (Mint chocolate chip preferably). I can’t really describe how I can be both, somehow I just am! My goal is simply to make you comfortable, confident, and guide you to have the best and most memorable session you can have!
