Terrys Serendipity Café is a project begun by Montclair High School students in the spring of 1995. It provides a place for our towns young people to listen to performances by a wide variety of artists, poets and musicians here in town.
Terrys Serendipity Café is run by the students themselves, with adult volunteer advice and supervision. The café presents all types of performances and music from classical to rock, from jazz to hip hop. We have open mic time set aside at each café for people to come up on stage and perform. It is a great place for new artists to present their material to a live audience.
The café is held at a variety of places depending on availability, season and ideas. Wherever it is held, the café is drug, smoke and alcohol free, and the emphasis is on respect for the performers and audience alike. The café project is educational for the staff and entertaining for the customers.
Please join us on March 21st, 7 -10 PM at the opening reception for three new exhibitions at Gallery Aferro, 73 Market St Newark NJ

Nitrogen Cycles is an 8-channel sound art installation that sonically maps the daily activity of live fish into the gallery space. A rectangular fish tank stands in the center of the gallery and each fish is assigned a unique tone that spatially travels through the rectangular gallery corresponding to that fish’s activity. The music generated is a reflection of the dynamic shifts in the location, speed and interactions of the fish in their daily lives. Through motion and color tracking a sonic transposition is created that immerses the listener into an aural experience of the movements in the fish tank.
Hi there Serendipity Cafe first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
Many people wanted to use us in the future so if you were one of those people make sure you bookmark the link below so that in the event that we do close our myspace account you won't lose contact with us. I wish you the best of luck in your music career. Thanks again for being our myspace pal.
We have also built a pretty big music community which you are welcome to join if you want to meet new artists like yourself!
The American Red Cross of Montclair-Glen Ridge-Nutley will hold their monthly blood drive on February 14, 2008. Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity for you and your Valentine to give the “gift of life.”
Please visit the chapter house at 63 Park Street in Montclair between 2:30 and 7:30 pm to donate. Couples who donate together will be entered in a raffle to win a “romance package” including donations from local businesses. The package includes:
• One night’s stay at Hilton’s The Lodge at Woodcliff in Rochester NY with breakfast for two. • One couples’ introductory package from Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Upper Montclair • A box of chocolate covered strawberries (or other fruit of choice) from Edible Arrangements of Nutley. • Dinner for two at Montclair’s own Bistro 18.
Donors will be treated to home baked snacks and cookies as usual. Snapple will also be sponsoring the drive and will provide their new drink, Snapple Antioxidant Water, to all donors. Healthy people who are 17 years of age or older and weigh at least 110 pounds may donate whole blood every 56 days. For information about eligibility or to schedule an appointment, call 1-800-GIVE LIFE; walk-in donors are also welcome after 3 p.m.
Valentine's Day is traditionally set aside for love, gifts of flowers, chocolates, and romance. This year, try something different - give blood!
