Serenity is the living embodiment of friendship, honor, respect, trust, love and peace. The Chico, CA trio is spreading their socially-conscious vibes one show at a time. “Serenity is a movement not only for peace,” explains founder Erik Park, “but for many virtues that are often taken for granted.”
Serenity, formerly known as Misconception, is not your typical rock group. The group features Park on guitar/vocals, Aaron Jacqua on drums and Justin Smith on didgeridoo/percussion.
Serenity’s alternative/indie folk sound is a hybrid of Devendra Banhart and The Velvet Underground sans the heroin and psychedelics. The lyrics are culled from personal experiences and events. “Many songs end up being very sad,” says Park, “with the idea that many people would relate better to those songs.” However, “a running theme is that love is still available,” explains Park, “if one is willing to reach for it.”
For a young band, the trio has an accomplished live resume. Their shows have gained them notoriety in the Chico area and earned them a spot in the Music for Peace festival as well as the Dragonfly Festival in Concow, CA. They also made an appearance on the Chico Butter Show on KZFR 90.1 fm.
Serenity is currently recording new material for their next release.

Chico, please repost: Referendum Petition circulating in Chico, please sign it.
We, with the help of our attorneys and Ed's Printing, have prepared the petitions for a referendum against the Disorderly Events ordinance. The ordinance limits our right to assemble and is a gross infraction of our civil rights. We have already gathered hundreds of signatures but need people to help gather more. We need 7,000 registered voters in the City of Chico to sign the petition to insure that we gather the necessary amount after invalid signatures are thrown out. We have until December 5th. There will be several events held to raise awareness and funds for our cause. Please sign the petition and help in any other way that you can. We will be at the Saturday Morning Farmers Market (8am-1pm) and at Woodstock's Pizza every Tuesday and Thursday (5-7pm).
**It is our duty as citizens of a democratic society to participate in the democracy to insure not only that our own interests are represented but also that the interests of others are not allowed to supersede the welfare of the People.**
