About Ralph Carney's "Serious jass Project"
Ralph Carney has been playing music for 4 centuries and now as a senior, decided to play some down home jass., he has assembled the cream of the crop from the S.F. bay area.(sorry if you weren't included, I can't hire everyone I dig!!) Randy Odell,on drums, has a mile long resume..(literally!) Michael McIntosh, on piano..is a bay area treasure and isn't even blind!! Ari Munkres on da giant violin(also known as the contabass, plays like a man posesed ,and he is, (any cheap exorcist's out there?) Ralph wanted to have a band doing his favorite honker and screamers tunes by the likes of Lee Allen, and Big Jay McNeely, as well as his favorite obscure tunes by Duke Ellington and other dead guys...we just recorded a whole fruit jar full of numbers and want to share them with y'all... take a sip, eat a chip, and PLEASE DON'T TRIP!! we will be playing shows soon... right now we are doing the first saturday of the moth at the rite spot in S.F. take care and don't forget to eat your cheese!!!

"To be Flamenco is to have another skin, other passions, other desires. It is a different way of seeing the world, with music in one's nerves, a fierce pride, happiness mingled with tears; it is a loathing of routine and sameness; it is to be intoxicated in song, wine, and kisses. It is the translation of life into an art of caprices and freedom." - Tomas Borras

Thanks for that local'. I look forward to some good "jass." fyi-There is a hip little coffee shop with live music called the Revolution Cafe on 7th St. in Oakland, across from West Oakland Bart. It's pretty tiny and unassuming, with some pretty terrible coffee, but some good music.

Is your gig in SF or Oakland? The only Revolution Cafe I know of is on 7th st in Oakland, then again I have never heard of another.

Ralph, I love "Boogie's the Thing" how fun!! I am doing well, trying to get my music going, still... a lot of patience required (which I find I don't have anymore!!!)
Hugs,
Av. your saxy ladyfriend.
