Serotonin were a Gothic / Industrial / Metal band from Dundee,
Scotland. They formed on the 17th of June 2007. They wrote
and self recorded their EP "The Syndrome". The seven tracks
on the EP have so far received over 24,000 plays on MySpace
and they had over 2,200 MySpace fans before disbanding. As a
multi-talented group they wrote, recorded, mixed, remixed and
master all of their own music, as well as also creating
their own artwork and branding, plus setting up their own on-line
shop and record label (Tryptophan Records) to sell their EP
through. They also made the EP available to download
at http://app.artists-first.net/Gothic/shop.

SEROTONIN - "In the central nervous system, SEROTONIN is believed to play an important role in the regulation of body temperature, mood, sleep, vomiting, sexuality, and appetite. Low levels of serotonin have been associated with several disorders, notably clinical depression, migraine, irritable bowel syndrome, tinnitus, fibromyalgia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders. Regular excercise and a positive lifestyle boost the amount of SEROTONIN levels present in the human brain and facilitate a happier existence".

MANIC - Mania is a severe medical condition characterized by extremely elevated mood, energy, and unusual thought patterns. There are several possible causes for mania, but it is most often associated with bipolar disorder, where episodes of mania may cyclically alternate with episodes of clinical depression. Though the elevated mood and energy level typical of mania could be seen as a benefit, mania generally has many undesirable consequences and has the potential to be very destructive.

OPIOD - An opioid is a chemical substance that has a morphine-like action in the body. The main use is for pain relief. These agents work by binding to opioid receptors, which are found principally in the central nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract. The receptors in these two organ systems mediate both the beneficial effects, and the undesirable side effects. These opioid (chemical substances) are collectively know as OPIOD.

NEURON - Neurons (also known as neurones and nerve cells) are electrically excitable cells in the nervous system that process and transmit information. In vertebrate animals, neurons are the core components of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Neurons communicate via chemical and electrical synapses, in a process known as synaptic transmission. The fundamental process that triggers synaptic transmission is the action potential, a propagating electrical signal that is generated by exploiting the electrically excitable membrane of the neuron. This is also known as a wave of depolarization.

ENDORPHIN - Endorphins are endogenous opioid biochemical compounds. They are polypeptides produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a sense of well-being. In other words, they might work as "natural pain killers." Using drugs may increase the effects of the endorphins.
