1993:The brazilian band, SERPENT RISE, started activities in the first months of 1993. Formed by Agnaldo (vocals) and Júlio (guitars), they had a slow and heavy sound.
1994: The band recorded the first demo-tape, “ANASTENÁRIDES”,
in March of 1994. Because of this recording, SERPENT RISE was choosed to play in B.H.R.I.F. (Belo Horizonte Rock Independente Festival), with Dorsal Atlântica (BR) and Anathema (UK). Still in the same year they had a song included in the cd compilation The Winds of a New Millenium I, released by Demise Records.
1995: In 1995 the band recorded a promo-tape:”TRAVELLIN.. FREE...”, to show the musical evolution and increase the promotion on other countries. This recording received good reviews from european and japanese magazines/zines.
1996: In the first trimester of 1996, SERPENT RISE entered in studio and recorded the seven songs which are part of the debut: “GATHERED BY...KHARMA” . This album can be defined as a mix of traditional doom metal, gothic rock and progressive. When the band was negotiating with some labels the release/distribution of the album, the band kept making concerts and then made the first appearence in São Paulo, playing with Sextrash (MG), Guehenom e Desmondus Rothundus (SP).
1998: Two years later, the band signed with Megahard Records and finally saw their first full length released. Many concerts were made in the south of Brazil, to promote the album and this includes an unforgettable concert with Amen Corner, in the state of Santa Catarina.
1999 and 2000: Were two difficult years for the band, once the problems with line-up and internal ones made impossible for the band to continue and with this the band was put on hold.
2004: ... and it is still winter. The Serpent returns to rise! Agnaldo (vocals) and Julio (guitar), the founding members, are surrounded by the new members’ talent and obstinacy, among them the old friend Sérgio Alves (ex- Drizzle) and Sávio Werlang (Poços e Nuvens) , so that, the band’s intact sonority can bear fruits and so offer to the old and new Doom Metal fans the new SERPENT RISE’s album.
2005/2006: Few concerts are made, the band has problems with the formation and there are changes again. It remains in the band just Agnaldo Gomes (vocals) and Sávio (keyboard).
2007: Maurício Silveira (guitar), José Neto (bass) and Gilian (drums) reintegrate the band stabilizing the SERPENT RISE’s line-up and providing the band’s return to the stages. New songs are composed, producing, in this way, a new perspective for the future of the band, which is preparing to enter in studio in the beginning of 2008!
2008: In the first semester SERPENT RISE enters in SWP studio and records two new songs: "Euphoric Waves of Melancholy" & "Marduk, the King of Babylon". In May , 17th the EP - "EUPHORIC WAVES OF MELANCHOLY" is released in the "Necessary Evil festival" (Caxias do Sul/RS-Brazil). After this gig the band faces problems with the line-up again. Currently the band has a new line-up and it is starting a new process of composition. The new songs will be in the second album and it will probably be available in the beginning of 2009.
1993: Durante o inverno é formada na cidade de Santa Maria, interior do estado do Rio grande do sul, a banda de doom metal SERPENT RISE...
1994: É lançada a primeira demo-tape "ANASTENÁRIDES" (quatro musicas). Este trabalho foi amplamente distribuído na cena underground brasileira e mundial. Como consequência a banda foi escolhida para tocar no B.H.R.I.F. (maior evento de música independente)
dividindo o palco com Dorsal Atlântica ( Rj) e Anathema (Uk). Ainda neste ano, a SERPENT RISE teve uma música incluída no cd coletânea "The Winds of a New Millenium I", lançado pela gravadora mineira Demise Records.
1995: Visando mostrar a evolução musical da banda e um direcionamento cada vez mais atmosférico, é lançada a promo-tape: "Travellin.. Free...". Com este trabalho os contatos da SERPENT RISE no exterior foram ampliados.
1996: Em Março a banda entra em estúdio para gravar as músicas do seu primeiro álbum, enquanto negocia com gravadoras o lançamento deste trabalho, muitos shows são feitos, incluindo uma apresentação em São Paulo com a banda Sextrash.
1998: Dois anos após ter gravado seu álbum, SERPENT RISE assina contrato com o selo paulista Megahard Records e finalmente é lançado "GATHERED BY...KHARMA". Para promoção deste cd foram feitos muitos shows pelo sul do país, incluindo uma memorável apresentação com Amen Corner em Santa Catarina.
1999 & 2000: Divergências de idéias e problemas com a formação decretam a suspensão das atividades da SERPENT RISE
2004: ... e ainda é inverno. A serpente volta a ascender! Agnaldo (vocal) e Julio (guitarra), os membros fundadores, cercam-se do talento e a obstinação de novos integrantes, entre eles o antigo amigo Sérgio Alves (ex- Drizzle) e Sávio Werlang (Poços & Nuvens) para que a intacta sonoridade da banda possa render um novo fruto, e assim presentear os antigos e novos apreciadores de Doom metal com um novo álbum da SERPENT RISE!!!
2005/2006: Poucos shows são feitos, a banda tem problemas com a formação e novamente mudanças ocorrem. – Restam na banda apenas Agnaldo Gomes(Vocal) e Sávio.(Tecladista).
2007: Mauricio Silveira (Guitarra), José Neto(Baixo) e Gilian (Bateria) reintegram a banda , estabilizando assim o line up da SERPENT RISE e proporcionando a volta da banda aos palcos. O Segundo semestre , do ano, foi repleto de shows. Novas músicas foram compostas , dando assim uma nova perspectiva para o futuro da banda,que prepara-se para entrar em estúdio no inicio de 2008!

Atualmente uma nova formação está reunida e iniciando o processo de composição das músicas, que estarão no segundo álbum,da SERPENT RISE, que provavelmente estará pronto antes do término do primeiro trimestre de 2009.
