Alistair Burton endorses hornets drumsticks. "This is for no other reason than the fact that they are the best drumsticks I have ever used, and all the stuff they say they do is true. Every drummer should try at least one pair, and I bet you never use different sticks again." Find out more at www.hornetsdrumsticks.com AND www.myspace.com/hornetsdrumsticks

Servant are a four piece based in and around Glasgow. Current members have played in various line ups with and without each other over the years, and found themselves in a rehearsal room with each other again in early January 2007. Feedback from recent gigs has featured reference to bands such as Editors, The Doves, Idlewild, Elbow, Jimmy Eat World, Queens of the Stoneage and many more. Servant have a powerful and varied sound, ranging from soft and infectious melodies, through to the occasional instrumental soundscape and full tilt crashing post/rock anthems to be. Most notably perhaps is the fact that Servant do not hide their Scottish accent away, and the voice of front man Gav Galloway is completely infectious. Add guitar parts that complement each other, song writing contribution from all members, the solid bass lines of Brian Hamilton, the creative perfectionism of Chris Stanfield on guitar and the inventive and colourful drumming of Ally Burton and you really are on to a band that has everything it needs and more. Servant are set for a year of hard gigging in the UK and aim to record an EP with Andy Miller(Mogwai, Scout Niblett, Sons & Daughters, My Latest Novel, Delgados, De Rosa, Desert Hearts etc) at the tasty new Chem 19 Recording Studio in August 08. Always happy to hear from people, other bands etc, Servant have all eight feet firmly on the ground and whether the future holds huge success or the occasional gig in the local, they are sure to keep it that way.
Some of the more recent gigs have seen the band play to their biggest crowds to date, including a near capacity King Tuts. Following on from these shows, the band are now really starting to build up a fan base beyond that of their friends, friends of friends, work mates and family!
With new songs appearing with Almost every gig, Servant are now finding that sound that is instantly recognisable as them, even if at this stage it is still to a relatively small group of followers. With four months still to go until they record the new ep, they have all the time in the world to complete a stack of new material to choose from prior to recording. Depending on how the EP is received in late 2008, Servant may well just be about to set themselves up for a bit of a Special 2009.
With radio play across several European staions (all be it independents and University stations), this band are really starting to get their name and their tunes out in to the airwaves in Spain, France, Italy and Lithuania. All of which fairs well, and the band are extremely flattered to receive such requests from such stations further afield. In Scotland, Xfm’s Martin Bate, Lisa Littlewood and Jim Gellatly have been known to give the occasional mention to the band, and some commercial radio play in Scotland may only be around the corner, which the band are really excited about. (even if it is still as an unsigned band).
Also look out for a cluster of stripped down accoustic gigs across Scotland in the Summer.
However it all turns out over the next twelve months......Servant are having right good fun!
THAT, AFTER ALL IS THE MAIN THING ;oD

I'm moving this weekend, so I thought that I would make a goodbye video for this wonderful city.
A few of the photos are my own, and the rest are from various artists whose work can be found on deviantart. com
The song is Losing A Friend by the band Pepper's Ghost.

Good show mate! Glad to hear it! Tuts is a cracking gig to get as well, the sound is shit-hot so I'm fuckin ragin' I missed it. I was even gonnae bring Stani's CD...LOL...I'll definitely keep in touch, if I was still in the Motherwell area I'd offer my services as a sound designer for making mad atmospheres behind your tunes. Totally can't believe how you's sound compared to our jams back then but it's cool to hear you's doing something a bit more experimental than the norm with the density and sound of the tunes. A'ra best!
