When you think of Reggae music, Do you think of Rastas on stage, with dreadlocks playing a song with a timing so unique only they can understand? Well…….. We might not all be Rastas, and have dreadlocks, but the servAnts band has what it takes to be one of the most, Rootsy-est, Cultured and Respected Forces to be Reckoned With! Starting from Humble Beginnings, servAnts (formally know as One Spirit), have come a long way. Just ask Lead Vocalist Vili, or Bassie Fipi, and they will give you the history on the “Long Journey” they have endured. The long recordings, the re-recordings, the endless practices, the good gigs, the bad gigs. As they say, ‘Rome was not built in a day!’. But as the seasons change, so did the band. With a name change, relocation, (now based out of Hayward), and artists leaving, it gave room for fresher talent to join the squad, such as guitarist Vaea, keyboardist Dave, and Drummie Al, the music slowly but surely felt more and more…….. RIGHT! To seal the deal, in ‘08 a second guitarist, Mano, stumbled thru and completed the tight knit servAnts sound. The servAnts band has been lucky enough to have played at various Major venues in the Bay Area such as Ruby Skye, Studio Z, Slims and Pier 23. We were also blessed to have shared the stage with Acts such as Midnite, Wailing Souls, Prezident Brown, even the late and great, Lucky Dube. Some see reggae music as a mans religion. Others may see it as a means to express ones opinion. Or you might just……, Love the vibes. The servAnts cater to all. Our ingredients is to have a deep meaning I and I can relate to, and a kick-ass riddim to back it up. The Proofs in the Pudding! We mean what we say, and we say what we mean.
