About me: What can I say... I'm a dreamer. I dont tend to live in the real world unless I have to.
I'm a musician. Or at least I try to be!! I play the fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano, saxophone, drums and a bit on the harp, whistles etc. I'm by no means a virtuoso, but I love playing. I am however, like lightning on the fiddle.... i never hit the same place twice!!
Its been said that maths is the universal language... well its not, music is.
I am almost finished my latest project, making a fiddle. It is playing now, and varnished too. All thats left to do is the drawings on the side.
The design of the fiddle will tell the story of an táin bo cúailgne. The sides will tell the story and the back carving shows the battle between the Donn and Findbennach at the end of the story. If you haven't read the saga I recommend it. Its a fantastic piece of Irish mythology.
Back before sanding and laquering...
Back after sanding and laquering...
I will post more pics when its done.

HI, Sean. Thanks from another thesession. org member for the add. Here's a view of our local. See 'saratogapancelticsession' for what we are about... Vonnie from 2 Bits (hammered dulcimer and piano)
Hi Seán - thanks for taking a look at the paintings and photos! Brilliant session down the White Swan in Cambridge last night - went on really late, and I took a few more B&W photos but not many as I was too busy playing (mostly mandolin, because there were much better fiddlers than me there!). Like the look of your decorated fiddle - hope it sounds as good as it looks! - Richard
