Seth Misterka is a multi-instrumentalist composer and producer living in Brooklyn, New York. His music career began as a saxophone player in Anthony Braxton's Ghost Trance Ensemble, touring Europe and recording CDs for Leo and Braxton House Records. Since then he has performed throughout the world and recorded with a wide-range of artists across the musical spectrum. As a saxophone player and improvisor, Misterka has worked with some of the finest musicians in contemporary experimental music including Brian Chase (of Yeah Yeah Yeah's), William Parker, Jeff Arnal, Reuben Radding, Nate Wooley, Chris Dahlgren, Matthew Welch, Mary Halvorson, Jessica Pavone, Mike Pride, Jonathan Zorn, and Gordon Beeferman. He also has performed and recorded with a number of indie-rock bands including his own groups Dynasty Electric, Sexy Champions, and Misterka Clones, as well as Shy Child (Wall of Sound RecordsUK), Aarktica (Darla Records), Transit (Clean Feed Records), SuperSystem (Touch and Go Records), The Fever (Kemado Records). Eclectic and prolific, Misterka has appeared on nearly 100 albums and CDs over the years. He ran Newsonic Records for a number of years, and currently operates the Mysterious Media label.
Additionally, his work with computers and electronic music has resulted in several solo music recordings on newsonic records, as well as the establishment of the Newsonic Recording Studio in Brooklyn, where he has engineered and produced numerous recordings for artists including Parts and Labor, Battles, Mob Stereo, The Assault, Steve Swell, Joe Morris, and Daniel Carter among others.
