Friday, June 22, 2007 $5 advance, $7 day of show Liggy's First Waltz: A Rocking Birthday Celebration featuring... TURKEY BOUILLON MAFIA and SETH YACOVONE BAND with Brett Hughes, Lowell Thompson, Todd Stoops plus more special guests! Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm, all ages
Come join our friend and Higher Ground lighting guru Jason "Liggy" Liggett as he turns 32 years young. A staple in the Burlington, VT music scene for over 10 years, Liggy has worked with some of the best rock-n-roll bands to come out of Vermont and the country. He will be bringing together his favorite past and future rockers for this special evening. Liggy notes, "Seth Yacovone Band has only played a couple of shows since disbanding in early 2005 and what better time for the boys to get back together for a night!" "Turkey Bullion Mafia has proven to me to be the closest thing to the vibe that must have been during Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, Traffic, and Joe Walsh era." "That being said...I am going to take both of these bands, mix em' up, and have them trade off sets culminating in a superset with both bands playing together tunes we all know and love…plus a heavy open jam session." "This will be like "The Last Waltz" with full guitarmageddon!" "There will be plenty of guests that will be in attendance to make this a very special night."
I was digging around yesterday for something and I came across some really cool and rare videos of The Samples in Snowmass Colorado some time ago and DMB was our warm up and support act. This was the first time I saw this footage myself. It’s not the clearest or the best sound quality but I feel that it really marks that time very well. One video is of Boyd Tinsley jamming with me on “Feel us shaking” and then one of Dave jamming with me on “Did you ever look so nice” Little bit of history here. Enjoy.
Cheers,
Sean
