My body tells me that this composition is spot-on, though. Somehow my meat knows these frequencies, my cells respond with harmonic resonances of their own, my skin soaks them up. I feel this music more than I hear it. Crackles zip through simmering, stretched voices which curl out of satellite space like sinister fog. Arctic winds twist through desolate and forgotten steel girders. Sound in static. Static in space. A key to a door in dreams. Innerdimensional. Not for the uninitiated or faint of heart (MP - Vital magazine).
Andrew Lagowski's second (S.E.T.I. - 'The Geometry of Night') album comes plastered with the digital code currently being transmitted in deep space to let alien life know that we primitive lifeforms are here and available for conquest. The 808-ish rhythms are as jaggy as early bitmapping on tracks such as 'Cobalt' and 'String Theory', while 'Fl.13' recalls recent Cabaret Voltaire/Sandoz. 'Mare Crisium', with what sounds like a sample from an Eastern European Orthodox chorus, actually succeeds best in conveying the solemnity of skywatching (The Wire, August 1996).
S.E.T.I. (Andrew Lagowski) has been recording and releasing electronic music since 1982, under the names Lagowski, S.E.T.I., Nagamatzu and Legion and in collaboration with Lustmord, Terror Against Terror, Si_COMM and Isolrubin B.K. As S.E.T.I. he has performed live in Aarhus Planetarium in Denmark, St. Paul's Church, Opwijk (Belgium), the Phonotaktik Festival (Vienna Planetarium) and at Ten Weyngaert, Brussels, alongside Fennesz, as well as in Germany on several occasions.
