Set In Stone formed in August 2004 in which Charlie Shelton (guitar) and Matthew Whittley (drums) were introduced by a mutual friend and upon meeting, decided to form a band. Charlie and Matt started playing music together at a local rehearsal room, not really thinking, they played what came naturally. This sound was raw, melodic and groovy as well as being heavy. As things progressed between them they decided to actively seek a bass player. It wasn't long before one was introduced to them by friend Andy Vernon, they all clicked instantly and this is when Jez Taylor joined the band playing bass.
An opportunity arose for Charlie to go travelling for 4 months from November 2004, with this in mind the band decided to record a rough 5 track demo showcasing their original material, 2 of which survive to this day. Upon Charlies return in March 2005, the 3 members continued to develop their distinctively raw, groovy sound whilst searching for a suitable vocalist. This arduous task was to take up the best part of 8 months and after many vocalist auditions they came into contact with Shaun Garner, whose vocal style suited the bands sound.
The next 6 months were spent working hard developing and tightening the songs to play in a live environment. Between May and September 2006 saw Set In Stone play a handful of local gigs which were met with a great response. In November 2006, Set In Stone and vocalist Shaun Garner mutually parted ways, pushing them into searching for a new vocalist. April 2007 saw the joining of vocalist Steve Faulkner, the band are writing new material and are due to record a 3 track E.P in August 2007.
We are a diverse, experimental, groovy, heavy band with an unquestionable passion for music. We don't follow bullshit trends or thrive on 'popularity', we just love to play..... it's good to hear what an idea sounds like. Although we all have similar tastes in music and attitude towards things, we are all very different from each other, creating a melodic and groovy sound along with a darker side of searing riffs, chugging bassline and pounding drums.

Hey, thanks for the comment. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding new members - I bet there's loads of people who'd bite your arm off to play in your band. No worries at all. It's a real shame but I'll be keeping my eyes peeled to see what you guys are up to and it would be great to see you at an MDM gig soon.
Guys we're shocked, truly passionate bands who are nice blokes too are rare these days, the live scene will be at a loss big time. Take care lads, keep in touch!!
