District IV Apparel Company was formed in August 2004 with the vision of giving a recognizable face to the Seven Cities we love. Seven City was popularized by the Boodah Brothers of 103 JAMZ at the beginning of the new millennium in 2000. The slang was developed to give an identifier to the area and to create unity amongst the seven very divided cities who were all making their stake in different markets in different ways. It became apparent that to move as one force or one City made more sense than to remain separated. 8 years later Seven City has become synonymous in reference to the Hampton Roads area and is also credited as “Seven Cities”. Although the term “Seven Cities” deviates from the true reason for the nickname it is received by residents as well.
District IV Apparel Company was born to not only give a face to the area but to also help others recognize the talent and promise that is ever emerging from our area. It will soon be that individuals will not have to wear NY Yankees, Atlanta Braves, LA Dodgers (etc) hats/accessories as fashion items and will be able to display a true representation that reflects the Seven City’s diverse and strong demographic makeup.

** Side Note: There are many investors who are interested in our area. They are hesitant to bring money and ideas here due to past lack of support of the area by its own residents. I say this to encourage support of our local artists, our local TV shows, and local entrepreneurs in their endeavors. Criticism is always welcome but remember to do it in a positive manner in order to make an artist, product, or idea better which will in turn prove better for the area.
