SDR formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the Spring of 2001. After numerous lineup changes, SDR finally solidified its ranks of guitarist/vocalist Donny Harvey, bassist Hans Martenson, and drummer Royce Rock in the summer of 2003.

With the release of their debut album, “Eclipse,” in October of 2004; SDR have been able to expand their performance base and bring their music to a larger audience, performing in venues all across the upper Midwest. In addition, it has allowed them to cement their local reputation as one of the more unique talents in the Minneapolis music scene.

The music of SDR can best be described as a melodic, moody blend of indie and hard rock, possessing an emotional intensity that is almost tangible to the listener. With influences as wide-ranging as Sunny Day Real Estate and Led Zeppelin, SDR creates a potent musical mix that transcends all notions of genre. Sometimes abrasive, sometimes ethereal, the music of SDR is amazingly complex and mature, utilizing non-traditional time signatures, innovative chord progressions, thoughtfully-written lyrics, and a decidedly "non-formulaic" approach to song-writing. These elements come together to create a unique sound that is able to be catchy and accessible, without sacrificing musical integrity for pop sensibility.
