Good morning! If you like getting slapped in the face and enjoy a good show, then good luck with all that... between the mystifying technical talent of guitarist Jimmy, the tight rhythm of drummer Rick, and the hefty psycho-funk of bassist John, this three-piece was born to make waves. Seven Layers Thin was founded by Jimmy and John creating masterpieces known today as Song 1 and Heavy Metal 1 in spring/summer 2003. Months later, Rick was stumbled upon and the trio began the endless life cycle of what is now known as Seven Layers Thin.
Seven Layers Thin has amazed groves of audiences countlessly and released their first EP/demo titled First & Foremost in summer 2004.
Seven Layers Thin has had their share of ordeals as has most other relationships. These guys are the strongest guys in town and have leaped over both mountains and bottomless pits, but in fall/winter 2005, it had evolved into an impossible leap. After many shaken emotions and many wrong turns, the boys ended their legacy. In winter 2005/2006, after much digging and rediscovering, there was much hope of the year's biggest comeback with the same unaltered original lineup of Seven Layers Thin. With the incredible musical and personal connections between the three, the boys were able to knock out their disputes and focus on what was most real to them. Regrouping and moving forward at an extreme pace is what these boys did best! Seven Layers Thin had never seen a bandmate other than Jimmy, John, and Rick and never intended to. These crazy pillheads were best friends, companions, and lovers... and did ,in fact, scream loud on stage: "Remember Me"!
Unfortunately, their comback was short lived soon after the second coming of the band.
...But in 2009, there's been a big buzz about another reunion. Seven Layers Thin made a surprise appearance at a house party show at Johnny Mack's place in mid Jan '09, the first time back together in over 3 years. Could this be a "third time's a charm" comeback bigger and better than anything you've ever heard of in your entire life? Yes. Yes it could.

Spring is here and so are the butterflies! This week I have a gallery of a particular group of butterflies called Brushfoots. Brushfoots are the most commonly known and encountered of the large colorful butterflies (excluding the swallowtails) found in Florida and the Americas. These include the monarchs, fritillaries, buckeyes, and the viceroy below (who has nearly identical markings as the toxic monarch butterfly) to keep it from being eaten by birds.... cool trick, huh? :-)
