When they introduced themselves, they got a lukewarm response. However, upon the completion of their first song, "Abstract Skies", they had the crowd fully in their corner. Seventh Epic is just about the most energetic band I've seen in quite awhile. Josh on guitar seemed as if he was gonna explode at any moment he was so full of the music. The guy wasn't still during the entire show. I can testify that I lost about 10 pounds just watching him perform. It pumped the crowd up as the more the band played, the more the crowd was getting into it. I was very impressed with the highly energetic, highly technical aspect of the show. The band is very tight and Josh had very crisp guitar solos. Garrett, on drums, and Scott on keyboard, didn't disappoint either as they are just as energetic with their responsibilities. Scott even whipped out the bongos! (don't worry, no one was injured). Sarah delivered the lyrics with what seemed like a controlled emotion that she had been working up for quite awhile. When you look at the landscape of the rock music genre it is a genre that is all over the place with a lot of variety and style falling under the umbrella of what rock music actually is. For me personally, I have heard a lot of solid rock music lately but nothing that really leaps out of my speakers too much until now. Charlotte, NC based Seventh Epic's latest release On The Edge has caught my attention and made me love modern rock music again. The powerful female vocals are what initially did it for me. Sarah Queen provides an in your face style but maintains integrity even when slowing things down as they show on the outstanding track “Let It Go,” which leans on a dark, haunting piano throughout the song aiding the equally haunting tones in her voice. But this also has a rip your face off feel to it at times as well on songs like “Crescent” and “Pieces.” As I stated earlier, it has been a long time since something really caught my ears but this album did that and much more. Seventh Epic combines all of the right elements together to create and album that satisfies every aspect of good rock music. It is haunting and slow at times, hard rocking and full of in your face guitars at others, and throughout the album you are entranced by an outstanding voice that wraps around solid lyrics. A must have for any collection of modern rock music. (JK) .. .. "...This band really jumped out at me as having a really solid CD from start to finish. What We Have To Say For Ourselves:
At its roots Seventh Epic is rock ‘n roll. Most of their foundations are laid on a strong beat, heavy guitar phrasing and accompanying bass line. Using synths, samples, and effects, they also branch out into open electronic spaces. These songs are fused with abstract, poetic lyrics and rounded off by their orchestrated compositional style.
