Seventh Evidence is a post-doom band from Ukraine. The project unites many people but the main of them are Dm.Balyk, Alex, Gleb Pavlovich, Alexander Kovalenko and Danil Bardack. From the beginning the band went through some line-up changes. Former members did much for the project and their role is highly valued.
The first album “Sable Blinds” was an outstanding experiment for the musicians themselves and as it came later, for the record studio either. The album was like stories told by an eye-witness wandered about in other worlds and lives. The songs were long, with complicated structure but anyway that thing didn’t prevent the compositions from being appreciated for richness of ideas and emotions despite they seemed to be overfilled with it in some measure. The quality of sound was not good partly because of the studio where it was recorded and lack of experience of the musicians but without that album there was never a band named Seventh Evidence.
The further life consisted of the release of Sable Blinds by Sound Age Productions in 2000, gigs in Russia and Ukraine, good reviews in Russian press and recording the demo of four themes afterwards included in the second album “Air Pockets”.
The album was recorded as a bit pared-down variant comparing to Sable Blinds. The songs got shorter and more laconic. There is no stories and multi-structural compositions. It seems to be like an experience of a bystander. For some reasons the record session continued more than one year and the result was mastered in Kiev in 2005. Because the band had not been signed to any label it was decided to distribute Air Pockets by own force. The release got the attention of the world press and received good responses in Metal Observer, Shapeless Zine, Froster.org and Doom Metal, not counting the reviews by Ukrainian and Russian media. The band was invited to Warsaw as a headliner and also took part in several fests around Ukraine.
Seventh Evidence just recorded a promo demo for the third album planned to be recorded full-length in 2008. And the band is looking for a label for the forthcoming album.
