  • Bio

Sevr1 was born Josh David Peterson on October 13th, 1982, in Rochester, New York. At a very young age, his family moved to central New Mexico, where they still reside to this day. The son of an accomplished guitarist, he grew up much the same as many other young men of his generation, but with a more pronounced enthusiasm for music and art. Despite his parent's best efforts, Sevr1 eventually found his life mired in a swamp of drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, and violence. Drifting from one vice to another, he often spent afternoons with friends at a Calvary Chapel skatepark near his home. Out of respect, he began sitting in on the weekly Bible studies held at the park on Friday evenings, and in August of 1999, he found freedom through Christ. Attending church regularly, he became involved in Bible clubs at his school and also in a breakdancing troop known to give anti-drug/alcohol presentations following their demo's. Already heavily immersed in hip-hop culture, it was only a matter of time before he began experimenting with lyricism and emceeing. While earning both a high school diploma and a degree from the University of New Mexico, Sevr1 spent the greater portion of his spare time recording two full length albums and performing live with his group, The Alumni. He has spent the last several years recording and performing with artists like Pigeon John and LA Symphony, Braille and Lightheaded, Redcloud, Mars Ill, and Cross Movement. Recently his successes have included performances with Snoop Dogg and The Game, feature performances at the Gospel Music Awards showcases in Nashville, and the imminent release of his first solo album. An exceptionally experienced entertainer, Sevr1's performances are consistently memorable and exhilarating, while deftly avoiding any content that could be deemed inappropriate for younger audiences. This, coupled with his often abrupt and unabashed honesty, are just a few of the things you will find beneath the surface of one of the most refreshing new faces in hip-hop. ~Wil McKaskle Digital Entertainment Buy the cd's here SEVR1: Russian Roulette http://cdbaby.com/cd/sevr1 THE ALUMNI: Line of Fire: Armageddon http://cdbaby.com/cd/thealumni THE ALUMNI: The Second Coming http://cdbaby.com/cd/thealumni2
