Biography

German: Was lange währt, wird richtig gut! Das müssen sich auch die Sewer Rats gedacht haben, denn an ihrem 2te full length Album „Wild at Heart" haben sie fast zwei Jahre getüftelt. Umso euphorischer sind die 3 nun, ihr neues Werk der Rock n Roll Welt zu präsentieren. „Wir sind so froh und stolz, das Dingen im Kasten zu haben; es war wirklich harte Arbeit doch wir sind mehr als glücklich mit dem Ergebnis," so Sänger und Gitarrist Chris Gin. Begonnen hatte alles im Sommer 2009, als man sich in den Minirock Studios in Köln mit dem Produzenten Uwe Sabirowsky zusammentat, der schon Szenegrößen wie Mad Sin oder den Beatsteaks unter die tätowierten Arme gegriffen hat. Nachdem die meisten Tracks im Frühling 2010 im Kasten waren, bekam man im Studio dann Frauenbesuch: Sarah Blackwood von den befreundeten Creepshow ließ es sich nicht nehmen, den Jungs zu zeigen, wo der Rockabilly-Hammer hängt und steuerte zu 2 Songs Backing-Vocals bei. Im Herbst 2011 ist es nun endlich soweit und „Wild at Heart" ist geworden, was bereits der Titel verspricht: Eine Liebeserklärung an die Subkultur, eine Homage an die Sternstunden des Rock n Roll, ein stolzes Bekenntnis zum ewigen Rebellendasein, der Soundtrack zu einer Großstadtsommernacht voller Neon, Pomade und verlorener Ampelstarts. Wild at Heart ist melancholischer Rückblick und wütende ausgestreckte Faust zugleich, gelernte Lektion und stolze „Hand-aufs-Herz-Pose. Hier schlägt das Herz von 3 Kanalratten, die wissen, wie man szeneübergreifend neue Fans gewinnt: Mit Hymnen an alte Freunde und vergangene Zeiten, voller jugendlicher Euphorie und ewigen Treueschwüren. Musikalisch und Textlich ist Wild at Heart dabei ein hochprozentiger Subkultur-Cocktail der amtlich knallt dank geschmackvoller Rezeptur: Man nehme etwas Outlaw Feeling a la Social Distortion, füge den Weltschmerz und Pathos vom Boss dazu, und vermische das Ganze mit der halbstarken Schmalztolle der Stray Cats und dem Stinkefinger von Joe Strummer. Ach ja: serviert wird der catchy Drink natürlich in weisem T-Shirt und Lederjacke, das Trinkgeld teilen sich Hank Williams und Johnny Bargeld. Cheers!

English: They have come a long way with their second full lenght album. But it might as well will get them very far... And in deed, those two years in the making was just the time it took the SEWER RATS to create another great record and a worthy follow-up to the band's debut "Rat Attack". The album "Wild at Heart" contains twelve rock n roll street anthems full of love for the subculture and juvenile rebellion. At one moment we are hit hard by the bad-ass call to arms "All My Friends" and next thing you know "Caroline" proves how much those guy love catchy melodies and of course Social Distortion. Rockabilly meets Punk is the winning formula in the restless yet sassy "Would It Be Alright" and the record's title track shows that The SEWER RATS know how to tell a good story in the vein of Springsteen. And they are certainly not afraid of some grand emotions or a good dose of pathos. Much rather they care about delivering kick ass live shows full of sweat and all-night dancing. However, the boys are also capable of shifting down a gear without losing the slightest bit of passion or vigor which they strikingly demonstrate with the heavy hearted and sorrow-laden "Heartbreaker", a song that really lives up to its name. And the first girl's heart they've taken by storm alreday, that's for sure, and a very talented one indeed: Sarah Blackwood of the Creepshow, with whom the boys are good friends, joins singer Chris Gin for some additional vocals on "Would It Be Alright" and "Lucky Star". It was as early as 2009 that the band teamed up with German top notch producer Uwe Sabirowsky, who has steadily been working with the German Rock n Roll elite and produced hit albums from Mad Sin, Donots and the Beatsteaks' famous "Living Targets". And the colaboration proves that working with a famous produces does not always mean that you have to lose your edge: The SEWER RATS kept their youthful snottieness and added the classic rollercoaster feelings of Rock n Roll: pride and sadness, rage and love, melancholy and euphoria. In fact, they sound better than ever and whoever likes Rancid, Social Distortion, The Clash or The Stray Cats will love The SEWER RATS.
