Wer in den letzten 4 Jahren Konzerte besucht, Fanzines gelesen und Undergrund-Radio gehört hat, der kennt die SEWER RATS aus Köln, die von Tollenträgern und Rockabellas, Billy-Punks und Skateboardkids gleichsam geliebt werden und längst eine feste Größe der deutschen Punk-Rock und Rock 'n' Roll Szene geworden sind.
Die Band mit Kontrabass, entsprechendem Rockabilly Flair und Punk-Attitüde, versteht es catchy Mitgröl-Punk-Rock in der Tradition von Rancid zu schmieden, etwas Outlaw Feeling à la Social Distortion hinzuzufügen und das ganze mit der Coolness der Stray Cats und Blondie zu würzen, ohne dabei die allmächtigen Clash zu vergessen. Dabei haben Chris, Puck, Jetson und Dan ein unschlagbares Ass im Lederjackenärmel: wirklich gute Songs! Die Lyrics sind meist sehr persönlich und handeln von Freundschaft, Liebe, Hass und Loyalität, oder erzählen einfach die Geschichten, die man on the road erlebt hat.
Jung, talentiert und bis an die Zähne mit Motivation bewaffnet machen die Jungs wovon alle immer nur reden: Rocken. Auf endlosen Touren sich den Arsch abgespielt und mit Bands wie Mad Sin, The Bones und den Peacocks die Bühnen in ganz Europa zu Schutt und Asche gerockt. Eine Live-Show der SEWER RATS ist kein Ponyhof. Eher ein Affenhaus mit Triple-Espresso-Flatrate. Auf und vor der Bühne geht’s zur Sache und tanzende Mädels, grölende Greaser und glückliche Punk-Rocker feiern zusammen eine Party, die Joe Strummer stolz und Gene Vincent betrunken gemacht hätte.
Mit über 250 absolvierten Shows und seit 2009 mit neuem vierten Mann Dan Greeve (Ex-Heartbreak Engines, Sarah Blackwood) an Bord ging‘s im Herbst mit Produzent Uwe Sabirowsky in die heiligen Hallen der Kölner Minirockstudios, wo schon die BEATSTEAKS, Mad Sin oder die Donots dreist an deutscher Rockgeschichte feilten. Das zweite Album der Billy-Nager aus Köllefornia ist also in der Mache und die Hit-Bombe wird 2010 platzen...

During the last 4 years the SEWER RATS put their name on the map of the European Rock 'n' Roll scene and whoever went to shows, read fanzines or listened to college radio came across this four-piece rat pack from Cologne, Germany.
Loved by greasers, rockabellas, billy-punks and skateboard kids alike, the band combines catchy sing-along punk rock in the tradition of Rancid with stand-up bass driven rockabilly influences. Adding a fistful of outlaw feeling à la Social Distortion and the coolness of the Stray Cats and Blondie, the SEWER RATS create a subcultural cocktail which tastes classy but yet refreshingly new. Their lyrics are mostly personal and deal with topics such as friendship, love, hate and loyalty. Some also tell the stories of events that the band encountered on the road.
Young, hungry and ambitious, the SEWER RATS toured Europe countless times, sharing and rocking the stage with bands like Mad Sin, The Bones, Peter Pan Speedrock and the Peacocks. And a SEWER RATS show is no picnic. Rather a monkey house with free triple-espresso. The action goes down on stage and in front of it while dancing girls, chanting greasers and happy punk rockers have a party that would have made Joe Strummer proud and Gene Vincent drunk.
With over 250 shows under their belts and since 2009 with new fourth member Dan Greeve (ex-Heartbreak Engines, Sarah Blackwood) the SEWER RATS hit the Minirock Studios Cologne in fall to record their second album with producer Uwe Sabirowsky, who has worked with top-notch bands of the German Rock 'n' Roll elite like the Beatsteaks, Mad Sin and the Donots. This all killer no filler record is just in the making and scheduled to hit the streets in mid 2010 so watch out...
