Officer Aubrey Hawkins Murdered by the "Texas Seven" December 24th, 2000 R.I.P.
My name is Lori Hawkins-Acosta. I am the widow of Irving Officer Aubrey
Hawkins. He was killed in the line of duty Christmas Eve, 2000. At the
time of his death, he was an active member of TMPA.
I'm sure yourself and organization are aware that the remaining so
called "Texas 7" were all convicted and sentenced to death. In the
recent months, one of the "criminals," Michael Rodriguez, requested an
early execution. That request was signed by a district judge in Dallas
County and an execution date has been set for next month, August 14,
2008 at 6:00pm in Huntsville.
I would greatly appreciate your help in notifying all TMPA members...
Aubrey would want them to be aware. Any and all support during this
time of justice would be greatly appreciated. I am asking that any
officer available on the above date and time make their presence known
in uniform at the Huntsville prison in honor of Aubrey. In my opinion ,
and I know it would be Aubrey's as well, this is the first step towards
final justice.
Feel free to pass this message and my email address on to any officer
intrested in the execution.

I will be attending this execution in Huntsville, and urge all law enforcement to join me. We must show these criminals if you assault one of us,you assault all of us.
On August 14th, Michael Rodriquez, one of the Texas 7 was executed for the murder of Officer Hawkins. I was there for his punishment. It was not a joyful event, but a necessary one. There are 5 members of the Texas 7 left that killed Aubrey, they remain on death row.
TOTAL JUSTICE HAS NOT BEEN DONE, BUT HAS BEGUN.

There are 18,274 federal, state and local law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and whose names are engraved on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
•
Deputy Sheriff Isaac Smith of the New York City Sheriffs Office was killed on May 17, 1792, and is the first known officer killed in the line of duty in our nation’s history.
•
Anna Hart, a prison matron with the Hamilton County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Office was killed on July 24, 1916, and is the first known female officer to die in the line of duty.
•
223 female officers names are engraved on the Memorial.
•
September 11, 2001, was the deadliest day in law enforcement history; 72 officers were killed that day. Their names appear on panels 9W through 22W on line 23.
•
At the current rate of additions, the Memorial has space to add more names until the year 2050.
