"If you would like to Become a Lion email SFALions@yahoo.com.The miracle is not that we do this work, but that we are happy to do it. ~ Mother Teresa "
About me: The SFA Lions Club was Chartered in 2001 in Del Rio, Texas.
It is safe to say, I feel I accomplished something as President of such a prestigious organization. I knew I enjoyed being a lion, but no one really appreciates it until you hold an office within. I definitely know I want to make this a lifestyle and encourage my daughter to one day become an active lion.
The San Felipe Amistad Lions worked so hard during the year, that we decided to make our awards and installation banquet a Hawaiian theme. We wanted to be able to relax, enjoy and have fun. Friday, June 20, 2008 our banquet started with our Ambassadors of Goodwill – Crystal Medina and Mia Elizabeth Cruz leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Lions Amy Haynes, Mary Ann Zepeda took turns with the song and invocation.
Our Emcee and SF Lion President Elect Robert Castillo was recognized for the continued support of hosting our annual banquets. Past District Governor – Saul Lopez installed all the new officers. He also shared with the audience his admiration for the club. A year ago this club was hurting and about the fold. Today, we stand 44 members strong.
Our new officers for the 2008-09 year are: President- Eunice Gomez, Immediate Past President- Claudia Lopez, 1st Vice President- Rosalinda De La Garza, 2nd Vice President- Ariana Garcia, 3rd Vice President- Lili Teague, 4th Vice President- Sandra Hernandez, Secretary- Claudia Palao, Treasurer- Tina Martinez, Tail Twister- Syria Ramirez, Lion Tamer- Mayte Ruiz, 1yr Director- Tania Davila, 1 yr Director- Bertha Gonzalez, 2 yr Director- Anette Girdy, 2 yr Director- Lisa Guerrero, Membership Director- Monica Jaques, Public Relations- Amy Haynes and Lil Miss SFA Lions Ambassador- Mia Elizabeth Cruz.
Thank You for Making my year as President a Wonderful ONE. Never forget the PUZZLE. Everyone is just as important, all pieces are needed to create the BIG picture.
We Serve, Claudia Lopez President 2007-2008.
We always welcome new faces and we love the idea of bringing smiles to peoples faces. We are like a little 2nd family you'll have. If you have kids it is ok...we bring our kids to the meeting when we have to. We have a big project we work on during the year. It is the Duck Race. Year around we collect prizes and if you are interested in donating a prize contact us asap.
We do give away Scholarships during May...Graduation Time. We serve the community sometimes alone and others in conjunction with Queens for a Cause and our local TV Station.
San Felipe Amistad (SFA) Lions are preparing for the invasion of hundreds of Rubber Ducks. The ducks are expected to arrive in Del Rio on Saturday, October 25, 2008.
These are not ordinary rubber ducks. These are Racing Ducks that have been training and preparing for the past two months to go out and raise money for scholarships given away by the San Felipe Amistad Lions. These adorable little ducks sport panchos, a big smile and race their little hearts out for the sake of charity.
The race will begin at 1 pm at the Gillis St bridge and end at the Tardy Dam at San Felipe Lions Park. Crowds line up along waterways to cheer the ducks arrival and participate in "quacky" promotions before the actual race. The entire event is sure to cause an uproar of fun that will be contagious to all citizens.
SFA Lions are encouraging citizens to "adopt" the ducks for a chance to win great prizes. All of the proceeds go towards scholarship funds.
SFA Lions are also now registering male and females of all ages for the All Ducked Out Contest. This is a runway style competition where contestants will sport their favorite Quacky Styles. We are also having a contest for those that like to draw. T-Shirts will be made and we will accept entries from local artists who want to design this years 2nd Annual Duck Race logo. If anyone wants to register, adopt a duck, rent a booth and or perform, please stop by the Lions Hut on Taini St any Wednesday. For more info please contact Claudia at 703-8373.
Nearly 1.35 million Lions members in almost 200 countries and geographic areas answer the needs that challenge the communities of the world.
Lions improve the quality of life in their local communities. We are also global neighbors providing immediate and sustained relief in times of disaster and offer long-term assistance to those in need.
Lions collect, recycle and distribute eyeglasses locally and in developing countries, treat millions of people to prevent river blindness, and we hope one day to eradicate preventable blindness around the world.
Whether helping the blind or hearing impaired ...conducting drug or diabetes awareness campaigns ... providing recreational opportunities for the handicapped … sponsoring basic research into the causes and treatment of blindness ... providing children with sports equipment or just a place to play … or raising the funds to make it all possible, service always comes first for a Lion. That is why Lions Clubs International is not only the largest, but the most active service club organization in the world.
Who are Lions?
Beginning in 1917, Lions Clubs International has evolved into the largest and most active service organization in the world.
LIONS ARE people who have decided to give something back to their communities, who are dedicated to finding people in need, and who meet those needs in an efficient but caring way.
LIONS ARE committed to solving major, worldwide health and social problems, and realize that solutions are possible when every Lions Club does its share.
LIONS ARE people who cherish the friendship and fellowship of their own club, but who also feel a close kinship with fellow Lions in more than 190 countries and areas throughout the world.
LIONS ARE patriotic; giving allegiance to their country, while recognizing that all people must one day learn to live in peace.
LIONS ARE dedicated to maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards in their club - and in their personal lives.
LIONS ARE serious about their commitment to humanitarian service, but don’t mind having a little fun along the way.

Lions Code of Ethics
TO SHOW my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
TO SEEK success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
TO REMEMBER that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another’s; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
WHENEVER a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
TO HOLD friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
ALWAYS to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor, and means.
