About me: The San Francisco Jitterbugs is a dance club that specializes in the various swing dances of the 1920's to the 1950's, including Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, Balboa, Charleston and the Big Apple. Come see the star-studded floor show of these fleet-footed cats in action!
The San Francisco Jitterbugs were founded in 1999 by Johnny "Blue Jeans" & Tanoa Stewart. We now have over 30 members in our club and have performed for over 200 corporate events. Check out the promo video.
Who I'd like to meet:
Well known for their educational "dance through time" historical demonstration, the SF Jitterbugs have been seen in motion pictures, T.V. shows, magazine covers, fairs, festivals and events all over the bay area and beyond.
Now in 2008, The San Francisco Jitterbugs represent a wide spectrum of lady and fella bugs in the San Francisco Bay Area. The San Francisco Jitterbugs span from performers, reet dressers, live music supporters, balboa fanatics, dixiefried dudes, competitors, music enthusiasts, vintage vixens, dance instructors, good friends, A-1 cats, cute kittens, sharp noodles, sassy shaggers to strictly social dancers.

Johnny’s Bio
..
Johnny is the founding member of The San Francisco Jitterbugs, a professional dance troupe known for their vivacious and exciting performances. The Jitterbugs have been featured along with top acts such as The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Benny Goodman Orchestra and Les Brown. They have also performed for over a hundred corporate events since their inception. Johnny has been teaching, competing and performing since 1998. Ever since he saw two dancers "shagging" at The Derby in Hollywood CA. in the late 90's, he has had a fascination with this vintage dance form. In 2000 he started teaching Collegiate Shag classes at the HiBall Lounge and Broadway Studios in San Francisco, California. Since then, Johnny has appeared on televised shows such as Big Band Magic, Check Please! and on KRON's New Year Special on the USS Hornet & Sheraton Palace in 2004, 2006 and 2007. He has been featured dancing in two full length motion pictures, including "24 Hrs. On Craigslist" & "Swing" The Movie where he was a featured dancer dancing Collegiate Shag. He has also performed with The San Francisco Jitterbugs in front of 70,000 people during the half time show for the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders. In 2001 he earned the 1st place title in the Boogie by the Bay Lindy Hop Championships and 1st place in Balboa Championships in 2004. In 2007, he re-introduced Collegiate Shag to San Francisco and started teaching to "Sold Out" Collegiate Shag classes. He then founded and produced the San Francisco Shag Jam Championships in 2007. At the National Jitterbug Championships he took 2nd place in 2007 and 2008 in the Pro Collegiate Shag division. In 2008, he taught in Munich, Germany at the Rock That Swing Festival and will be teaching at the Canadian Shag Championships in 2009. He has also been invited to teach in Sweden and Australia.
