The mission of the School for Self-Healing, and its parent entity, the Self-Healing Research Foundation, is health education.
We bring to the public the knowledge and benefits of the Meir Schneider Self-Healing Method, a holistic health discipline that provides self-care tools for rehabilitation and prevention. These include self-massage and therapeutic massage, movement, breathing, imagery, and eye exercises.
The Method has helped thousands of clients with physical disabilities and vision impairments, caused by a wide range of degenerative conditions, which are consider “incurable”, to take charge of their health, improve their function, often dramatically, and enhance their quality of life.
Our formal training at the School has led to careers for people with disabilities, who might otherwise have been unemployable, and second careers for the elderly.
We serve people with physical and visual disabilities and their families; the elderly; healthy people who want to optimize their health, function, and performance and prevent repetitive strain problems, including athletes, musicians, and computer workers; and healthcare professionals who seek new ways to serve their clients.
For the economically disadvantaged, we provide: free or low-cost classes and individual sessions; creation and dissemination of free self-care materials; free advice, by phone, letter or email; and free support groups, which we help set up and sometimes host.
The School for Self-Healing is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. (NCBTMB). It is also a continuing education provider under Category A for the California Board of Registered Nursing as well as satisfies the American Massage Therapy Association's (AMTA) continuing education requirements.
