shabaka likes music and cherry cake. but maybe music a bit more. he grew up in barbados. he did the undergraduate classical course at guildhall school of music on clarinet. he now plays a lot of jazz though, in his own trio zed-u who have released an album on babel records and the mighty jeddo. he is a member of courtney pines jazz warriors project and performs on his recent album 'afropeans', he is also a member of the london improvisers orchestra. he has performed with jack dejohnette, charlie haden's liberation orchestra, louis moholo, polar bear, the heliocentrics(recorded an album with them and ethiopean vibes legend mullatu), speech debelle, red snapper, byron wallen, kaidi tathum, the heritage orchestra, anthony joseph and the spasm band, elmore judd, dylan bates, arun ghosh, gary crosby's nu-troop, tomorrow's warriors, kinzli, a poem in between people, ayetoro, chic budo and soweto kinch. that is all he can remember....oh dear!!!
