When the news report about Israel, most of the time you hear about wars, terrorist attacks and suicide bombers. The only democracy in the Middle East has been living under constant threat since its foundation in 1948. But inspite of all the political tensions, there is a very vivid and interesting cultural life in the “Holy Land”. Especially the music scene is remarkable.
On Friday night, when religious jews stay at home to celebrate the Shabbat, secular Israelis go out to listen to live music and to dance. Especially Tel Aviv on a Shabbat Night becomes one big partyzone. Its many clubs and concert venues burst with musical energy. Having come from many countries, Israelis are used to mix different styles and traditions. This has lead to a very rich musical culture.
