One of the UK’s Premier dance labels, Shaboom Records, has relocated from sunny Blackpool, England, the capitol of the UK’s Northern Soul scene to downtown Los Angeles, California, the home of West Coast Funk.
Named in honor of Blackpool’s seedy underground Acid House club Shaboo by label founders Mark “Blakkat” Bell, Doc Martin, Majik Johnson, and Ben Davis, all of the label’s early releases were produced in Mark Bell’s Studio Safe Productions complex and collaborators included the likes of House music icons Marshall Jefferson, Felix Da Housecat, DJ Sneak, Farley “Jackmaster” Funk and anyone else visiting the UK from Chicago in the early 90’s.
Over the label’s history, releases such as UBU’s ‘Pixels’, Shaboom’s ‘Sweet Sensation’, Blakkat’s ‘Full Circle’ and Eddie Amador’s ‘Holy Spirit’ established Shaboom as one of the hottest and most consistent quality dance music imprints in the UK.
Over the past 12 years, Shaboom Records created several limited edition & promo-only vinyl releases that House Music fans still consistently clamor for and which trade on the second-hand record market for big money.
These releases along with Shaboom’s vast catalog of unreleased material alongside a selection of all-new remixes of “classic” tracks and brand new material will finally be made available for the first time as exclusive Digital Downloads at Beatport.com beginning October 1, 2008.
