Free the SHAC UK 9 The police can raid us, arrest us, inprison us, but we will never surrender. Animal liberation always. Posted at 8:56 PM Nov 10 view more
About me: On the 1st March 2007 UK, Belgian and Dutch police carried out 32 separate police raids, involving 700 police officers, the largest attempt at surpessing the animal rights movement in Europe ever. From the 1st May 2007, Gregg and Natasha Avery and Heather Nicholson were remanded in custody charged with Conspiricy to Blackmail HLS (they later plead guilty/were found guilty of the charge and they are now serving their sentances in prison), 16 other activists were charged and released on bail awaiting trial, with bans on them doing any animal rights activity whatsoever.
Over 30 people were originally arrested, and subsequently 16 people were charged with Conspiracy to Blackmail HLS (by running a peaceful campaign against them). Since then three people have had their charges dropped, one has been found not guilty, four people (Dan Wadham, Gerrah Selby, Gavin and Heather Nicholson) have been found guilty (first trial - December 2008) and another Three (Gregg and Natasha Avery and Dan Amos) have plead guilty (due to the fact that they didn't believe they would get a fair trial (and if you plead guilty you get 1/3 off your sentence). There is another show trial next March (2010) involving 4 activists, Nicole Vosper has already plead guilty and she has been remanded in prison (she will be sentenced Jan next year). Sarah Whitehead has also plea guilty and she remains in prison now on remand.
On the 21st January 7 SHAC activists from the first show trial were sentenced. Heather 11 years, Gregg and Natasha 9 years (it would have been nearly 14 if they hadn't plead guilty), Gavin 8 years, Dan Wadham 5 years, Gerrah 4 years and Dan Amos 4 years.
Added to their sentences, Gregg, Natasha, Heather and Gavin received the most extreme gagging ASBO's ever issued in the UK, they will never be able to publicly campaign or talk about vivisection in UK ever again. On pain of 5 years in prison. They can't write public letters even whilst in prison about vivisection or HLS. Dan A, Dan W and Gerrah have 5 year banning ASBO's.
Please speak out against HLS and vivisection Gregg, Natasha, Gavin and Heather will never be able to raise their voices against this brutality ever again, so what excuse have you got not to use your voice?
Inside HLS 2008, what they lost their liberty to fight against
The charges against all activists are politically motivated and pleas of guilty are due to the likelihood of being convicted by a jury and not whether they are actually guilty. The "conspiricy to blackmail" charge carries a maximum 14 year prison sentence.
There has also been another trial relating to the raids on May 1st 2007, involving activists accused of allegedly liberating a dog from abuse (this was an animal rights action but not SHAC related, however the police are claiming it is). Sarah Whitehead was found guilty of this action and given two years in prison (which she has now completed - however she is still on remand for the "conspiriciy case", two other activists were aquited.
HLS is the worlds most exposed, brutal and vile animal testing lab, it helps no one and hurts many, please get involved if you possibly can. (please visit SHAC's website).
A letter from Heather read out at the SHAC national in November 2007
Gregg, Heather and Natasha have said on many occasions the best way of supporting them and the other defendents is to get out there, do demos, write letters, do what you can. There are campaigners fighting HLS all round the world so please if you can please get involved. (SHAC).
You can also write to them.

Gregg, Gavin, Natasha and Heather all have ASBO's for life banning them from EVER publically campaigning, being associated with or even talking about the brutality of vivisection ever again. On pain of 5 years in jail. The other sentenced defenders have 5 year ASBO's (starting when their full sentences are complete)
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who cares about the suffering of animals and anyone who is willing to help fight against it.
Unfortunately the UK SHAC 9 are not the only activists currently in prison for trying to close down HLS or to for fighting for animal/earth/human liberation, for other UK animal rights prisoners please see the ALF SG's website.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP,AND ALL THAT YOU DO FOR OUR FRIENDS THE ANIMALS.MUCH LOVE FROM NYC.......BLU, P.S. I ADDED SOME OF YOUR FOOTAGE ON MY PAGE.
All those responsible for this sort of disgusting, evil repression of compassionate activists are the scum of the earth and I hope they can't sleep at night because they know everyone would prefer if they just didn't exist. They're lucky that the people they're picking on are too intelligent and compassionate go out and actually harm them! It makes my blood boil to think anyone could be so determined to protect animal abusers. Though I wish their deaths to be natural and peaceful as I live ethically unlike those human wastes of space, I will dance on their graves! ; )
