Like his music, Shad Du is streetwise and hardcore. His forceful lyrics and punchy delivery reflect a lifetime of experience split between the impoverished countryside and gritty ghettoTurn and Twist announced the arrival of the young and talented deejay that followed up with several radio hits including Captains Bread, Gwaan Yah Gal and Any Gal with stable mate, Patchy. With Love Controversy on the Golden Bathtub rhythm produced by Shocking Vibes Production, Shad Du is taking the steps to ensure that his, is a household name.
Young Corneal Clayton was born in the rural community of Falmouth and raised in the nearby district of Barnstable. While attending Jackson Town All Age and then Clarks Town Secondary School, Shad Du nurtured his interest in track and field and studied carpentry. He never expected to take advantage of his interest in music.

In 1992, with the encouragement of his friend, Keith Palmer, Shad Du travelled to Kingston to meet Patrick Roberts of Shocking Vibes Production. The meeting immediately sparked his interest in the music business, but the young deejay was not able to get involved. I had to bounce back and forth and do a little hustling, he explained.
Eventually, in 1994, Corneal was able to move to Kingston and started his career with Shocking Vibes under the alias Wicka D. Mi never tek no time to work in, the first time was the hardest, noted the deejay. Just as his career was progressing, a tragedy changed his life. His friend Keith, whose encouragement was instrumental in starting his career, was shot and killed in a drive by shooting, in which Corneal was also injured. The near death experience and loss of good friend lead him to re-emerge as Shaddu.
