Shadowblade is an epic heavy metal band based out of the western Canadian city of Edmonton -- where the winters are long, the beer is strong, the girls are pretty, and some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in North America stand triumphantly but a few hours away by vehicle. Without a doubt a prime location for the inspiration of beautiful and somber atmospheres alike, strengthened by lyrical content comprised of imagery of nature's overwhelming power, figurative existentialism pondering the purpose of existence, as well as heroic anthem-like sing alongs typical of folk influenced heavy metal.
Formed in 2006 by founding member Jan (a.k.a Jasio) Kulakowski, Shadowblade has undergone several member changes improving and redefining their sound along the way. Enough demos were recorded to bring them to the stage countless times in the city of Edmonton, and around the province of Alberta to secure a local fan base that has without a doubt been an inspiration which had helped keep the project going in times of doubt.
Shadowblade is currently tracking for their debut full length album "Frozen Serenity", with a fully redefined and sculpted sound, and plans to tour both nationally and internationally in efforts to spread the word of Canadian heavy metal as far around the world as the winds will take it. Composed and arranged entirely by Jan, the album is a collection of 2 years of songwriting and life experience learned along the way, which has added a very personal touch to the material being recorded. Studio time has been booked in May at Nino Laurenne's Sonic Pump Studios (Helinki, Finland) for the mixing of the record, with mastering and physical production to follow, estimating a release date for July 2010.
We are seeking label support for the promotion and distribution of the record, but rest assured this album will be created with or without the help of a record label. Is Shadowblade a two-man band?
The answer is yes and no. Frozen Serenity will only feature Jan and Anders (as well as a select few guest musicians from the Edmonton area), but a live lineup is in the works, and Shadowblade will without a doubt have a live members to tour with.
Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes £leTriKa style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal. If you are really looking for something new about Metal, you should check £leTriKa out!
