About me:
We are a small London-based engineering outfit that develops cutting edge humanoid Robot Technologies. Yes, we are a bit crazy, but in a good way. We are known for our advanced robotics and components, most notable the Air Muscle and the Shadow Dexterous Hand, a robot hand that has all the features of a human hand. It is pretty cool, you might want to check out the videos.
In 1997, our company was founded by a group of friends, all independent robotics researchers who had developed the Air Muscle a few years before.
At the moment our engineers are mainly working on the Shadow Dexterous Hand. The project started in 1998 and hasn't ceased to amaze people all over the world ever since. The first versions were completed in 2000. From that moment onwards the design of the Hand has continued to improve and it has become,believe it or not, the most advanced robotic hand available. Our touch sensors add to the tactile capabilities of the hand, making it even more “human”.
Also we participated in several projects seeking to explore the interface between humans and robots. We have done medical projects including prototype exoskeletal design as well as the development of passive motion exercising machines. Also we are involved in performance projects in collaboration with the School of Performance and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds.
