Who the hell is...Shadows of Dawn?
I just recently caught onto this New Jersey metal band, seeing them perform on Saturday night at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville. A friend of mine recommended the band to me, and I left impressed at their short, but sweet, set. Their sound is a whirl-wind of genres, but I would mainly call them modern experimental thrash metal.
The band, comprised of John Garafano (vocals, guitar), Jay Tarantino (guitar, backing vocals), Rob Vicari (guitar, backing vocals), Dan Lassen (bass, backing vocals), and Joe (drums), have been clawing their way up the NJ metal scene for years. The band just released their debut album, Of Death And Ruin, a few weeks back. Shadows Of Dawn is unique in its three-guitar attack, a trait that most metal bands shy away from. It creates a wall-of-sound approach that also makes duel harmonies sound fluid and tight. There are a few songs to check out on their MySpace page, and anybody looking for some metal that will remind you of the good-old days of thrash, would be wise to check this band out.
