Lying seemingly dormant to the outside world, three guys cocooned and dis-shelved themselves whilst dissecting what had been. In October 2009 skin was shed and a metamorphosis occurred with the emergence of Shadow Thieves resulting. A new style, a new focus with a band fusing the likes of rock, indie, progressive, roots, funk and atmospheric music.
Some music inspires thoughts and emotions; other music gives no option but to dance until your bones are blistered. Shadow Thieves have found themselves probing a style that is sitting on the borderline between these two reactions like a shinning toll booth, spewing light and colour into the unsuspecting sky. This is the gateway to the radiance that symbolizes Shadow Thieves, a band rocking on the first wave of the socialistic digital age.
Performing at Fresh Fest October 17th 2009 the band packs a wealth of experience from previous projects and have put this into three works they have recorded at Loose Stone Studios in 2009. ‘The Promise’ and ‘Mystery’ were mastered by Forrester Savell and ‘Dinosaur Skin’ in is currently with Ted Jenson (Nickleback, Green Day, Muse) at Sterling Studio's in New York for the final mix.
The bands growth in 2009 does not stop there. Invited by Gold Coast City Council's 'A Venue' to feature on the councils Sister City cultural exchange website with Fort Lauderdale USA, the band is set to represent S.E Queensland's talented music pool. Matty, Jack and Joey are honored by the opportunity and look forward to expanding their reach at an international level.
Artists this trio have shared the stage with include, End Of Fashion, Mammal, Shihad, Spiderbait and The Angels, they have performed over 100 shows from Byron Bay to Mackay in another project and successfully headlined The HardRock Cafe, Miami Tavern Shark Bar, The Fisherman’s Wharf Tavern and Swell Tavern on The Gold Coast recently. Events performed include Fresh Fest ’09, Loud Festival ’09 and Caxton Street Festival Brisbane ’09.
During the fortnight starting from October 12th - 25th, Gold Coasters and music fans across Australia will again have another opportunity to show their support for the band when Shadow Thieves compete online in the next round of the The JD Set at www.thejdset.com.au .
