vintage cars and classic british motorcycles, kustom kulture, art - such as deco, nouveau, surrealism, googie, classic, illustrative, lo-brow, pin-up (some of my fave artists are rodin, h.r. giger, dali, tamara de lempicka, mark ryden, shag, george petty...there are actually SO many that i greatly admire their work), tikis, seeking out remaining original tiki restaurants and installations, velvet polynesian & wahines, mid-century modern everything (i LOVE antiquing), machine-age stuff, unique action figures, burlesque and silver screen goddesses (faves being lili st. cyr and greta garbo, respectively), *huge* music fan (see below), collecting unusual alice in wonderland items and art, native american enthusiast (being part cherokee), ancient egyptian history, art & artifacts... and this is merely a 'taste'
Music
this is almost impossible to tackle...to keep it simple, i'll stick with categories...old skool punk rock and alternative (think the damned, gbh, misfits, sex pistols, the cure, depeche mode...); some hardcore and skate punk (minor threat, bad brains, the faction, j.f.a. ...); some industrial and gothy stuff (ministry, front 242, my life with the thrill kill kult, prodigy, combichrist...); old honky tonk; psychobilly/punkabilly/rockabilly (social distortion, the cramps, reverend horton heat...); swing; 70s southern rock (HA! some white-trash guitar rock is fun!); sexy blues; surf and surf/twang guitar stuff; 60s garage rock/punk; funk; sultry lounge/exotica; 80s alternative pop (wall of voodoo, information society, adam ant...); classical (mussorgsky, mozart, tchaikovsky...); some dj dance trax stuff …anything that makes me wanna move or moves me. i like what i like, even if it doesn't 'fit' what others think i should like. :p
Movies
a HUGE number of animated works (from disney's "sleeping beauty" to blue sky's "ice age"); sci-fi; vintage horror (think "the blob", "the cabinet of dr. caligari", and hitchcock stuff); film noir; epic movies (from "the 10 commandments" to "amadeus"); old musicals and classic b/w movies; classic 80's flicks of my youth; basically anything tim burton has done; jim henson films; b-movies and cult classics (rodriguez/tarantino "grindhouse" - LOVED IT) and "300" was just visually INCREDIBLE
"corrective table etiquette"... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! varla was one bad-ass bitch...
Television
liquid television, 120 minutes, the muppet show, the storyteller, amazing stories, the twilight zone, tales from the darkside, the munsters, the addams family, red-green show, the benny hill show, freakazoid, animaniacs, brain games, the max headroom show, monty python's flying circus, thundercats, battle of the planets, casper the friendly ghost, schoolhouse rock, the great space coaster, the tracey ullman show, in living color, kids in the hall, the simpsons, bill nye the science guy, sesame street, mister rogers, ren and stimpy, southpark, rocko's modern life, tom and jerry, looney tunes, schoolhouse rock, classic saturday morning cartoons of yester-year, old holiday specials (rankin/bass prod. stuff, how the grinch stole christmas, a christmas story, emmett otter's jug-band christmas) ...(enjoy your trip down memory lane)...don't watch much now except the occasional my name is earl, the office, scrubs and 30 rock
Books
"a clockwork orange" (real horrorshow)...and other works that i saw as movie first - "watership down", "frankenstein"... read as book first and movie disappointed - "1984". also adore edgar allan poe works; dr. seuss and shel silverstein (both illustrations and writing); the works of lewis carroll, washington irving's "the legend of sleepy hollow", "the alchemist" (inspirational!); also dig graphic novels and comics …not much of a reader unless it's about researching one of my hobbies/interests, THOUGH (update) i am obsessing over vampire novels right now. where did THAT come from? hahahaha
Heroes
moreso inspirations/influences: (in no particular order) tex avery, chuck jones, friz freleng, bill plympton, faith hubley, bruno bozetto, don bluth, tim burton, tom yohe, jim henson, jamie hewlett, george petty, ed "big daddy" roth, larry watson, lili st. cyr, zoe bell, martin luther king jr., mom and dad, granddad dietz, patricia kautter, dave weinkauf...(more to come as i think about it)

"The test of the integrity of a poem, or any work of art, may be, simply: does it lead, in the end, to freedom, or does it merely expand the arena of confinement? A voice from the outside, truly, is what we need to hear. Even a single word. Even something that is not a word, but suggests such a word. "
