InfluencesWe are inspired by many bands famous and not so famous; The Meters, Spearhead and Soul Coughing are the top three. Chip's recent favorite is Galactic. Mickey is listening to Little Barrie (From England). Spidy discovered early Elvis Costello and Jim is at a gig. We hope he listens to last weeks Shagbark practice on the way home.

   About shagbark
Shagbark is a four-piece rock band that worships at the temple of funk. Heavily influenced by The Meters and The JBs, Shagbark sets up a groove like no other band in the New Hampshire seacoast area. The instrumentation is as stripped down as it gets; a two piece drum set, a four string electric bass, electric guitar (light on the effects of course), and a vocalist. No frills, no hair obsession, no goofy stage clothes, no nonsense. The band is fronted by singer/rapper/poet/actor Mickey Blanchette. Mickey’s long time musical associate (Choosy Moms) Chip Brindamour plays bass, Jim Rudolf formerly of 6th Root plays drums. Shagbark’s guitarist is the enigmatic Spidy, a rhythm guitarist in the tradition of Jimi Hendrix and Ernie Isley. Shagbark is a smart, funky rock band that gives the audience a pony they can ride all the way home.
