Shaggy Wonda is a roots rock act that is making a push up the ranks of the music industry ladder on the strength of their new self-released album, ‘Real World Shaker’. This four piece features the shredding saxophone of Teddy Jones, the passionate vocals and riffy guitar of Colby Miller, rock solid bass lines from Steve Laine, and aggressive, almost animalistic, drums from the man known as Panama. An equal blend of emotion and technique is their signature, with an emphasis on melody. Their songs will have you dancing and singing along but offer substance both lyrically and musically for the listener to delve deeper into. Their sound is a modern twist on the rock and roll of decades past and expanded by influences of blues, jazz, bluegrass, and reggae. Shaggy Wonda’s strong song writing and high energy live shows combine to create a package that has something for every music listener.
Beginning in 2006 they cut their teeth in the college bars of Bloomington, IN where the band is based. Since then they have steadily expanded their geography to all over the Midwest, gaining fans at the many clubs and festivals they have played. Shaggy Wonda’s musical resume has been building from accomplishments such as opening for national touring acts such as JJ Grey and Mofro, Karl Denson, Oteil and the Peacemakers, Ekoostik Hookah, Steel Pulse, and Umphreys McGee side project Omega Moos. They have also played a number of festival dates highlighted by performances at Celebrate Fairfax and Summer Camp Music Festival. Relix! Magazine took notice of the group as one of the winners of their JamOff contest. With the release of ‘Real World Shaker’, Shaggy Wonda is launching a national college radio campaign headed up by Tinderbox Music. This campaign will give the band its first nation wide exposure. Shaggy Wonda’s online presence continues to grow as well with well over 100,000 views on their Myspace page and their music available on Itunes and CDBaby. The bands influence continues to grow but they know there is still much work to be done. Keep your eye out for Shaggy Wonda, you will cross paths with them soon.
