In the ever over populated music industry, it takes a lot for an artist to be recognized and respected for their talent, Shah Bailey has captivated audiences with his performances in the tri-state area. His extraordinary performances were showcased opening for such established artists such as Ray J, Brian McKnight, Donell Jones, Tank and Jahiem.
What sets Shah Bailey apart from other artists that are just launching? The answer is his voice, lyrics and performance. There is no doubt that when one takes the time to listen to Shah Bailey that they will hear a distinctive voice with incredible range. Bailey hails from the Bronx , New York where he began singing at eleven years old. To this day, Bailey uses his talents to inspire and mentor younger individuals who also yearn to make singing a career. Bailey spends several hours a week as a vocal coach for a number of kids including his four sisters.
The path of this soul singer is being revealed each day that Bailey is destined for stardom and the stars are just beginning to line up for him. Bailey comes from a lineage of church singers including his mother, grandmother and aunts who inspired him and his siblings to sing. In fact, Bailey who is the oldest of seven and raised by a single mother continues to sing with his family almost every Sunday at the Brooklyn Tabernacle Baptist Church.
It is now Shah Bailey’s turn to launch a single and begin building a career. He is doing that in 2008 with the release of his debut album, entitled,
My Life Speaks Through Music. This album is a collection of songs produced by Tu-Luv Productions who are Tony Evans and Big Will. All of the writing on the album is penned by Shah Bailey which includes
up-tempos and ballads. The first single which is an uptempo is, “Drink N U” and currently being played at radio. As Tony from Tu-Luv Productions explains, “Shah is one of the most gifted singers that we’ve ever worked with, we are so dedicated to him that we put off other singers just to complete his album and are investing in this ourselves, we believe in him 1000%.”
My Life Speaks Through Music also includes the outstanding ballad, “When We” which hands down is a spectacular ballad that showcases the falsetto voice of Shah Bailey. There is something that is “old soul” about Shah Bailey, perhaps it is his musical influences who are Stevie Wonder, Mint Condition and Music Soulchild or it is the vocal quality of his voice?
Shah Bailey believes that music is the most powerful force that unifies people of all cultures and religions. Bailey is passionate about creating music and expresses, “before songwriting I turn the search light inward to pull out every emotion within.” His music takes you on a journey of trial and tribulations experienced by many young men.
