well, ya know, just throwing it out there, but SPW works in 8 countries: nepal, india, and then 6 countries in africa - and, if all goes well, they will begin in two new african countries next year. i really hope that you join SPW. if you apply let me know. i still participate in a lot of their stuff. in fact, im friends with the person that you would interview with

will do. if you are trying to volunteer while studying, this program might not be for you. it is intensive. you will need 8 months to a year (depending on what country you go to). if you can, though, i really recommend it - maybe after your studies, if it falls at the right time. where are you going to be in south east asia? if you want short-term, come-and-go-as-you-please volunteer work, i have heard that the mother thereasa center in calcutta is a good place for that. that city is very intense and a little overwhelming, i think, but it would be a great experience.

New York is good. Cold! Very cold! But good. Ya, Nepal was with a volunteer program. It was called SPW. If you or anyone are thinking of volunteering, I highly recommend it. I am still really involved in the organization. I participated in one of their fundraisers in Manhattan just last week.

This is the website:
http://www.spwusa.org/

And here they posted my email/blog/volunteer update while I was there - if you're interested :)
