"My Hawaii" - the musical autobiography of Ricky Hana.
From his legendary party and surfing days in Waikiki, to his rebirth atop Haleakala Crater on Maui, and to his final salvation and redemption, Ricky Hana brings you an intense, soulful, and beautiful look into his life in Hawaii.
1) "SUMMER WAIKIKI" - Go to town and suck up the frenzied beach scene at the most popular beach in the world. I wrote this song on the 4th of July 2007 in Waikiki. Man, I love south shore. In fact, I'm thinking of buying my own table at the Cheesecake Factory....
2) Listen to the wistful "NO MONEY NO HONEY" about false love lost but real love found. Materialism, betrayal, homelessness......happiness! Just give me my dog and the beach....
3) Hear "SUNRISE HALEAKALA" I wrote this song for my only son, Taylor. I rejoiced the day he was born and am forever thankful for the love and joy he's brought me. He's as beautiful as a Haleakala sunrise...
4) Time to sit back and watch the sunset with "NANI PUKANA LA" - a nice laid-back song I wrote after surfing Canoe's all day with Taylor, on boards we had designed and just finished. Nuttin' mo' bettah fo ride own board....
5) Give a reflective thanks for everything with "MAHALO KE AKUA" - a song/prayer I wrote for the celebration of my life and intended to be played at my own funeral. As you listen to this song, start to remember and feel all your wonderful and heartfelt experiences, especially the people you love.
6) Travel to the most intense surfing spot in the world with "2nd REEF PIPELINE" over at North Shore Oahu. Surfing the Pipe is about the biggest thrill short of jumping off a cliff.
7) One more trip to North Shore for the biggest baddest waves with "WAIMEA BAY" - Never surfed Waimea over 20ft......maybe my trunks were the wrong size...

Emmaus Road
Emmaus Road was an astounding Christian band that hailed from Santa Ynez Valley. Leader Alan Satchwell's masterpiece is about a search for forgiveness and redemption. Their music hits you deeply and directly.
Ricky Hana says, "I was both humbled and eternally awed to have played on this record."
"Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road?? Luke 24:35
The Dreamers
The Dreamers were a hugely popular band in Santa Barbara during just a few years the 80's. They were founded by Ric Streeter, (who had just finished a stint with Warner Bros. Who is Ricky Hana???
"I write the songs with my soul. I play songs from my heart.
I chase the song, not the gold record.
I give my fans my all.
I am a rich man."
- Ricky Hana 2009
Reviews:
"Ricky Hana displays such versatility and imagination with the lyrics of the first two songs on this unpretentious artist's demo" - Honolulu Star-Bulletin
"Hana makes a great first impression with "Summer Waikiki" as he combines an updated list of traditional hapa-haole images -- "suntan oil, bodies on the beach in the summer sun, " "going to a party tonight, " "my shaka brah surfboard, " "G-string divas" -- with rock guitars and reggae rhythms. The lyrics ring true in describing an enticing summer playground. The song would be a perfect anthem for a "Come to Hawaii" campaign aimed at hip young 20-somethings. HVCB, are you listening?" - Honolulu Star Bulletin
"There's a serious musician looming here, too, with a ki ho'alu-laced and tranquil "Sunrise Haleakala" (the best track on the disc)" - Honolulu Advertiser
"
"Ricky Hana multitasks on this, his first CD; he's singer, composer, guitar and 'ukulele strummer, producer, sound mixer, session master, photographer, etc. His zeal to be a do-all-and-everything dude cannot be denied as he shares a variety of styles, from a rock-edge glimpse of Island living in "Summer Waikiki, " to a mini-down-and-out novelty dubbed "No Money, No Honey" with a voice that uses upper registers (and whistling)" - Honolulu Advertiser
