Marty sings the songs, , Rich slaps the bass, Shane Hubbard bangs the hell out of his drums and now Wayne Elvin provides that 'powerful driving' guitar!
Influences
The usual Rockabilly/Psychobilly/Garage-Trash/Rock'n'Roll/Blues stuff. Add to that an unhealthy interest in '70s Punk + New Wave, Ska, Country, Skate-Punk, Brit Pop, Kylie and Girls Aloud! Watched over from above by the good lords Elvis and Joe Strummer...
Shakeout take a fresh slant on psychobilly music and that in itself must be a mission after 17 years!
(S.Nott / Bedrock Bugle / May '97)
This band deserve to go far. Shakeout take rockabilly and kick it about with a host of different influences giving a refreshing new look at the genre.
(Necro News / November '97)
Its a good thing Shakeout decided to play again. Obviously devoted to rock n roll. Who else can play a Green Day cover and make it decent to listen to? England is full of surprises.
(Hellvis.tk / Jan 2006)
This band have some good ideas and their songwriting is very imaginative. And they are good musicians to boot. The guitarist is very impressive and has been described as "a Psychotic Brian Setzer on speed." Get along to see them as I have heard that they put on quite a live performance. Keep it up lads!
(P.P. / Deathrow Database / June '93)
Shakeout are without doubt one of the UK's leading rocking outfits, and their approach to their music is definitely unique.
(Scootering / June '95)
Their songs are good, their musicianship great and their sound is powerful and driving.
(Deathrow Database / April '96)
Loaded with a great slapping bass, catchy melodies and some over the top
songwriting. This is without doubt some of the better 90s Psychobilly
stuff. (Old School Psychobilly / Feb. 2006)
