Melissa James is an up and coming documentary film maker whose aim is to make informative films fun and easy to watch. A recent graduate from the video production program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), she has already made an impression with her debut film Shake, Rattle & Roll, a short expose on Rockabilly subculture in Canada. A former music publicist and marketing agent, she has lived in London, Montreal, and Toronto. She also lived in NYC, where she helped to create the first ever Arlene Grocery Picture Show, one of the biggest film festivals in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She is currently based out of Vancouver, Canada; where she works as a video editor and producer.
About me:
'Shake, Rattle & Roll' is a short documentary which gives the lowdown on the Rockabilly scene in Vancouver, Canada. Delving into the history of the movement with fantastic archive footage, the film focuses on three aspects of the rockabilly lifestyle: Hotrods, Burlesque & of course Rock'n'Roll! It features reflective interviews with local artists and performers like Big John Bates, Cousin Harley, Hank Angel, Jimmy Roy,12 Midnite, Melody Mangler, Cecilia Bravo and many many more! The soundtrack is entirely made up of local Vancouver roots Rockabilly bands and is guaranteed to get ya shakin...

On July the 25th, 2008 a special event took place in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In club Money Honey Dutch rockabilly singer R.J. joined up with one of Russia's finnest rockabilly bands The Neva River Rockets.
