About me:
I am a happy, busy human being. Right now I operate a Private Counseling practice with two offices; one in Eaton, Colorado, and the other in Fort Collins, Colorado.
I use myspace as my website because I like to keep my costs low so I can see clients for less. I am an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor). We are mental health therapists who are not as expensive as psychologists and do more practical work with people, like how to change things rather than take pills. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which means I teach people how to think differently about things so they can get out of being stuck.
I enjoy interesting people, especially those who have found a different way to see or be in life.
I use alternative healing modalities, such as massage therapy, Chinese Medicine, and herbal and nutritional supplementation. I think being healthy takes work but doesn't have to cost alot.
The most important thing I have learned is that most of the time the solution to someone's problems are inside their own head. What I do is to help the ideas form words and become real. I spent four years in college learning about the brain and behavior. I spent another two years in graduate school learning how to talk to someone about a problem and trying to help them come up with solutions.
I raised four kids as a single parent on my own farm, driving tractors, raising goats, and irrigating. My first career was in veterinary technology. I carry the learning of anatomy and physiology everywhere with me.
I love to think about thinking. If I can just understand what I am thinking (yes, deep down, really), then I can change it if I want to. I just think more about it until I find the glitches, false beliefs, irrational thoughts (like when I think someone thinks I am stupid but the person is really just rolling their eyes because something is floating in the air above them), or other myths than run amok in my mind. Once I debunk my inner myths, I am usually free of that particular stupid thought or behavior.
