About me:
I am a happy, busy human being. Right now I operate a Private Counseling practice with two offices; one in Eaton, Colorado, and the other in Fort Collins, Colorado. I also run my own handywoman business, where I fix simple things for women, like door hinges and leaky faucets, or do yardwork or odd jobs. I am a freelance writer of creative nonfiction, both serious and humor.
I love to talk philosophy and discuss solutions to life's problems. I enjoy interesting people, especially those who have found a different way to see or be in life. I like alternative healing modalities, such as acupuncture, massage therapy, Chinese Medicine, and herbal and nutritional supplementation.
The most important thing I have learned is that most of the time the solution to someone's problems are inside their own head. What I do is to help the ideas form words and become real. I spent four years in college learning how to look for signs of mental illness. I spent another two years in graduate school learning how to talk to someone about a problem and trying to help them come up with solutions.
I have raised four kids as a single parent on my own farm, driving tractors, raising goats, and irrigating for a living. I trained as a veterinary technician and carry the required learning of anatomy and physiology everywhere with me.
I absolutely love to think about thinking. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has become my life. If I can just understand what I am really (yes, deep down, really) thinking, then I can change it if I want to. I just think more about it until I find the glitches in my thinking, false beliefs, irrational thoughts (like when I think someone thinks I am stupid but the person is really just rolling their eyes because something is floating in the air above them), or other myths than run amok in my mind. Once I debunk my inner myths, I am usually free of that particular stupid thought or behavior.
